One of the worst parts is that this food is maketed towards the pet owner. They put a cutsie pic and the words wholesome on the label and we think it is a good choice. Dogs don’t care about marketing.
i think i got some contaminated food because my cat is throwing up and having diarrhea. i had got a different brand from what i usually get, and my cat didn't have symptoms until 10 days later after i slowly mixed it in the old food to the new food. he had stomach upset while i mixed the food, but it wasn't full blown diarrhea, i thought maybe because he needed time to adjust to the new food. two days he solely eating the new food and he's been sick. i'm throwing it away and getting the usual food. trying to save a few bux aint worth a sick cat
I'm not disagreeing with you, just curious and confused. There are so many dogs (unfortunately my son's being one) that go out of their way to find dead rotten carcasses 🤢🤢🤢🤢. Ugh… So how can they eat it? Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and wonderful information ❤️❤️❤️

I would do practically anything to get my cat to eat home made food but she absolutely won't. I've tried cooked and I've tried raw but she just walks away. I got her as a six week old kitten and I started her out on home made (cooked) food but after a few months she flatly refused home made food so I had to give her canned as I thought maybe she'll go back but no. I found some freeze dried mainly fish with fruits and veggies which she'll only eat mixed with her canned, I tried it wet and not so wet and plain dry but she won't touch it. I don't like the idea of canned food but she has to eat. I also have a high quality dry food available but she insists on the canned and I don't believe in just dry food though I tried wetting it, then she refused it. I'd welcome ideas as I don't know what else to do, now it's getting a bit hard to even get canned too though I noticed we must have had a new shipment.
Dr. Jones, Please, please do a video about how to help our pets during the heat wave we are going through. We need advice for now and suggestions about what to do in the future if we don't have electricity. My dog is not eating as much food right now. Normal adaptation to the heat?

Use to use "the best kibble brands" switched to ollie fresh dog food for almost 2 years now. My 8 year old siberian husky is clearly healthier and happier. She use to get allergies to the point she would scratch her snout, lose fur and bleed, she hasnt had these "allergies" since the switch. Also had a limpoma problem which is no longer a problem with the fresh food. It is expensive, but do the math, feeding your dogs traditional kibbles is about a $1 a day, how healthy can that food be?
I started making dog foods by myself for my 3 dogs since 2005. Yes, it takes time and extra cost but it worth it.

Yes, this has been an issue since the beginning of kibble and cans for pets. All kinds of animals and gross things get put in petfood. I have fed my animals human grade meat for a long time. Out of curiosity, how do you feel about the vegan kibble out there, doc?
I feed my dogs BARF, this is the first video I watch from this channel, just wanted to say the condemned carcasses are allowed as pet food because the processing steps such as extrusion pretty much kill any pathogens that could've been on the carcass, so kibble is safe even for human consumption. This video is a little alarming, while I do think brands should specify those facts, the condemned carcasses once processed wont make pets sick, other additives in the feed or contamination surely could , but not condemned carcasses properly processed.
If I'm not mistaken some dog food companies, also use shelter dogs that have been euthanized in their dog food.
The packet of dry dog food that Dr Jones is holding is Beneful made by Purina….this company is absolute garbage….the worst of the worst, and the tragic thing is that many vets are happy to recommend Purina products and sell it in their surgeries, in exchange for financial help in their businesses. I personally raw feed and wouldn't touch these big pet food companies, and it makes me mistrust vets on nutritional matters too! Thank you Dr Jones for another very informative video!
Thank you my dear, I have been making 7 meatloaf a month for 3 + years to keep my little mini’s safe. I have been researching dog food since I lost 2 dogs, to bad dog food, with some of the “fillers” came from China. It was this, (fillers) the vet feared killed my dogs. It had rat poison in it. Can’t sue china, the dog food co. Said they never knew and was not sure we were correct about what happened. I do not mess with the Lying Dog food conglomerates, not worth your energy or tears. Make your own dog food!!!!! Their a people that will fight you on this, and say dogs should not be fed people food, this shows you how stupid they are! What did we do before dog food companies sprouted up? Great work to all the vets that can see through this deceptions. Oh…did I mention that vets get a kick back for selling dog food in their offices. Read the labels on this food, corn meal, and it goes on. Do dogs eat what cows, sheep, goats do? NO
Well … under the law, pets aren't even considered live companions. They're still deemed as "property" 😡.
Many people consider their dogs/cats as their children, member of the family.
But if a dog gets napped, abducted, in the eyes of the law, they file it as "stolen property".
So of course they don't care about condemned carcuses in pet foods.

You need to kinda cover this more then the fact they allowed the meats into circulation. We got that the first 3 times you spoon fed it to us.
The people here are wanting the details to avoid these feeds.
I started making my own w/100% human grade ingredients and he is thriving on it. I followed much of what Dr. Karen Becker suggests. He loves it. He wasn't even eating store bought dog food. Vets know better but try to push kibble which is super unhealthy.

There was a story on Oprah believe it was, that a man had a new puppy.. healthy, happy. One day his puppy passed away suddenly. Checked the food and that specific brand (they didn't say the name) that had been given euthanized pets from shelters to use that meat in their kibble… so that new puppy was actually slowly eating itself to death because the euthanasia still remained in the food. 🙁
I absolutely hate processed pet food. When I delivered my first carbon fill to Purina I truly went to the back of the truck and puked. The fda is killing all of us and our animals. Those forced killing of livestock in the so called c pandemic, ridiculous when it's been in a test tube since the 1920s. Well when they forced the small farmers to kill off perfectly good livestock allowing it to rot they made money in the front the middle and the back end. It's disgusting the way they strong-armming smaller farmers backed by the drug companies and Tyson to take federal grant money away, cut their water supply and worse if they didn't comply. All why selling terrorism and fear. A distraction so many of us were deemed anti vax and conspiracy theorists when all along right in front of us they are literally getting away with murder in so many forms. Including our pet food. Right now I'm so disgusted but this is not a new thing in pet food or human food. Hence why hand over fist u don't protect the water and air where u grow it the government will find a way to poison it. Because don't you know big pharmaceutical is our legal drug cartel. The USA being the largest drug cartel in the world. Hence why my animals will never be getting rabies shots till they really get the doses straight. My Yorkie shouldn't be getting what a great Dane gets for dosage. So many vets have now stood up quit and even made it to the house to speak on this and I Comme and support those vets 100%. It's way overdue. Our animals lives depend on us and it.

When the label says, "meat by products" do not buy it. That means all the awful stuff is in it.

As the owner of a diabetic cat, I’ve had a lot of headaches trying to find appropriate food for him, and even resorted to cooking food for him myself. Pet food should absolutely be more transparent. That said, it seems like speculation to say that these pet food companies are breaking the law. In fact, maybe they are not breaking the law because they are using food that is not fit for human consumption and channeling it into a way that they can use it rather than simply wasting it. There is no telling what the reasons are without additional information. If we wanted all of our pet food to be made from human quality ingredients, we would have to be willing to pay double, triple, or quadruple the price, and as the owner of a pet with a long-term disease this can become very difficult. I do feel like we should at least know what we are and are not paying for, so that we can make informed choices.
I make all of my dog's food, from the food I buy at the store. He is a healthy weight, no health issues, no skin issues. Great blood work from the vet twice a year. He is a pug and many pug owners will tell you their pug has gas. My pug has NEVER had gas ever! I say to them stop feeding your pug garbage, garbage in garbage out. Pretty simple!

Doctor, I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I wondered what was happening with all those chickens and turkeys that were struck with the avian flu. Let's face it, my dogs will go throughout the farm and if they can find a carcass that's been laying around for a few days, they'll eat it! Maybe it's not for little Tula, but for the larger hardier breeds, I don't see where this is a serious problem. It's gross, but…. To me, its a respectful use of s resource that would otherwise not be permitted in the human food chain. For those dogs who are forced to survive in shelters and rescues, it might be their only source of food. For my own dogs, I do better, but I'm also realistic about what's out there that dogs will eat when forced to face starvation. Let's not neglect to mention those people that are willingly trying to help animals by adopting or fostering, and may not have the budgets to buy the top brand of dog feed or to feed raw. Not everybody can afford that extravagance. If there's disease being passed on through the use of the meat, that's a different issue.
Please start your pet food company, Dr. Jones so that we know where is the best place to get the healthiest food for the pets. Thank you for bringing awareness about this which would never cross my mind before.

Hey Doc ,I just found out that 4,000 beagle's are being rescued from a Fauci like animal testing facility in Lynchburg Virginia, This is a lot of homes!! Dr. Jones, my rescued 4.5 year old Lhasa Apso just had her bladder surgery. She was found in the street and turned in to SPCA then again was abandoned by the adopter due to repeated UTI and peeing in the house. I took her in from the last adopter right after she completed a course of antibiotic without knowing her bladder issues ,,, fast forward a year later, she had UTI again and found this poor baby had a bladder full of struvite stones and crystals, all these stones were surgically removed. I refused to feed her prescription diet food that my vet asked to put her on, those ingredients are made of nasty meat by products and grains that I’ll make her produces more stones. I started making home made food for her by following the guidelines of food that acidify her urine, also bone broth to increases her liquid intake, testing her urine PH weekly but I need supplement, doggie vitamins, which one of your supplement is best for her health condition so I can order it. As always, appreciate your advise, thank you in advance.
