This made me tear up a little. I wish people would see stories like this and see why people are so desperate to flee and get a better chance at life. Isn't that what the United States of America is supposed to be about? I wish her the best and please, please, please put up some update on her every so often. Her Somali cooking is very different from my family.
This is a reason why I like teaching EFL. Helping people get places in life. My dad struggled when i was growing up and now I help kids in Korea learn English. I need to go back to the states one day and teach adults as well. I hope i can contribute back.
