I was scrolling through the videos and thought to myself why has Somali cuisine not been exposed to these people yet ?? and then I clicked on this. I am English but Somali food is just beautiful.
She seems like a beautiful soul and a hardworking individual. She clearly appreciates living in the U.S. I don't care if she speaks English yet, I'd be glad to invest in her restaurant.
This made me tear up a little. I wish people would see stories like this and see why people are so desperate to flee and get a better chance at life. Isn't that what the United States of America is supposed to be about? I wish her the best and please, please, please put up some update on her every so often. I really would love to see a success story for her!
This is a reason why I like teaching EFL. Helping people get places in life. My dad struggled when i was growing up and now I help kids in Korea learn English. I need to go back to the states one day and teach adults as well. I hope i can contribute back.
Is there an update on how she is now?
It's nice to see modest, no-nonsense stories like this. They're really simple portraits that show the quality of human beings.

Beautiful story. Wishing her and her family the best in peace and their endeavors.
cooking with that native blouse/cloak of hers seems hella hazardous. but respect and admiration nonetheless…
How can you hate people like this? Just normal hard working people.
