Rockaway Beach used to be such shithole but it has cleaned up SO MUCH.

every time I watch one of these videos, someone always says "a lot of people don't know about this place" or "this place is a hidden gem of NY" or something of that effect. and then I go, and it's either crowded or closed permanently.
