  1. Hi Dr. Jones, my dog was observed through x-ray to have an enlarged heart, inflamed bronchi, and swollen liver (maybe Cushing ‘s disease). One liver value was over 1200 (post steroid treatment). He was overweight also. So we changed his diet and liver values were cut in half. I am giving a liver supplement now and an arthritis supplement. He has lost some weight and fat pouches have disappeared. His coughing continues. Is there anything you can suggest for the coughing (the vet gave me hycodan) to make him more comfortable at 15 years old? Thank you. Jim D

  2. My 11 year old golden retriever/husky mix. He’s had a chronic cough for the last year. In the last 2 weeks it’s gotten extremely worse almost every 20 minutes he’s wheezing, cough sounds crackly and he can’t stop. His eyes are milky.

  3. It would be helpful to know how to administer this to our pups, most are in tablets, some are powders, would be helpful to have an exact recommendation, like a brand or where to buy etc

  4. Thank you! I have a fog with a cough, sometimes he coughs only when he starts walking, other times when he is simply lying down. It seems to have subsided to only when he’s up and about. I had another dig with a similar cough and the Vet prescribed hydrocordone. I’d rather not give that to this old guy. I had also tried CBD for dogs and it helped the other dog somewhat. Where would you suggest getting that magnesium you mentioned? Is it found in a regular drug store? Thanks again. I just came across your channel and am catching up on videos and all your advice.

  5. ❤️ Id love it if you’d be able to also let us know how much it is if we count our dogs weight in kg (kilos) (in Europe) ☺️. In other words I have a dog that weighs 3,2 kg so I’d love to know what dose to give him.

  6. Is yellow nasal discharge also a symptom of kennel cough? My 6 month old has kennel cough and after a day or two being diagnosed she developed yellow nasal discharge 🙁 she’s been on Respicalm and Lung Gold Pet Well-Being for three days

  7. Thank you doc. this video came at the perfect time!!!! I’ve tried so much to help my dog with tracheal collapse. Honey and CBD worked for two months, but her coughing is back. Im 100% trying this !!

  8. So, I received the powdered supplement and I incorporated it into a Pill Pocket…..My congestive heart failure/tracheal collapse little girl didn't seem to tolerate well. Her coughing became extreme…..Hmmmmm? Not sure why since I read in the link that Magnesium is good for heart patients.

  9. Can i add something I've used? Hawthorn leaf, bark and berries extract. It strengthens the heart. I had a young dog with a heart murmer. He didn't like to walk far. But i carried him when he got tired. He was about the same size as Tula. Every evening he coughed up fluid until i put him onto this extract. He lived almost 11 years without the need for medication, just giving him one 500mg capsule of extract every day. If we ran out occasionaly, he'd start coughing a little within days, but stopped once on them again. It helps people, too. Keep them coming Doc. I love natures meds. I like magnesium malate – no tummy issues.

  10. My dog has had a bad cough for years now, nothing will stop it, it’s every time she moves basically. She’s had xrays, Ultrasounds, bloodwork, seen about 8 different vets still not concrete diagnosis. Slight trachea collapse and slightly enlarged heart but neither is bad enough to cause a cough. She also pants almost constantly and has labored breathing constantly. The closest they come is some type of bronchial issue, COPD, bad lungs. I have tried everything but this and I’m definitely going to try this right away!

  11. My Yorkie is coughing, but I think it's from an upper respiratory infection. Antibiotics have not helped, nebulizing him, but he's a little overweight and older, so he's not getting a lot of exercise, so I was doing a little bit of research and found that NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) breaks up mucus, so I am trying that on him, mixed with a little water in a syringe. You can also sprinkle 1/4 of a 600mg capsule on their food.

  12. Hi! I am a dog groomer and one of my clients veterinarian prescribed them prednisone and hydrocodone-homotropine for their dogs collapsed trachea. Do you think these medications are necessary? Or do you think they can try this remedy first? I know it could depend on severity but would love to get your opinion. Thanks!!

  13. All the magnesium bisglycinate I find has citric acid in it, which google says is v toxic to cats and dogs. Is that true? Is there a citric acid free brand you have found?

  14. I could have tried magnesium but my little Teddy passed in 2010 of tracheal collapse and probably other severe things. I didn't know he was in such bad shape when I adopted this tiny white poodle who was an angel. I went through hell but glad I had him for those six months because I'll have him forever when I get to Heaven. 🥰
