  2. I feel beyond agony w guilt for nottaking my dogs for enough walks not letting them free in house because more than any other dogs theyd come in edpevislly Buz. Snd mark. Theyvwere just out!! By the way kitchen started to snell like urine atrong wood f loor skats. I gound per miricle rnzyme spray completely takes care of pee snell. Water goor cleanercwerent helping coukd smell pee in famiky room proper spray from petco made a huge difference.I know people who walk thrir fog not 3 c but 4 times a dsy I didnt even do once a week usually oh too hot too cold. Stupid because I needed the walk too. Just do it. For me I started because of guilt just one house two houses tgen would go furtger because he waa zo enjoying it. I now let him leisurely smell each big rock instead of pulling him to walk for exercize.shorr walk iz b etter then no walk. Then I surprised myself started because he looked so happy to walk just even 2 or 3 houses often went on even longer once I started. StRting iz thd hardest part. When I let jim out just 2 houses is still enjoyBle but usually tgen I will go on short w a lk gor him.

  4. I live on acreage and my dogs goes nuts when anyone goes by. They’re outside now more because it’s finally starting to warm up. However, I’m not able to walk long distances. But would it still be necessary to walked even though they have free range of 7 acres?

  5. So, after battling this every which way…I am getting the best progress with oil of oregano for infection and Apple Cider vinegar in ears after cleaning. I tried it in water bc both dogs have allergies but they said…ehhhehhh! Sniff. Nope! So, starting this week I am deluting it and shooting a ts down their throats with syringe. I want to thank you doc!

  6. Love Tulla! I've had a broken foot for 8 months that wouldn't heal, so my 5 pound dogs have suffered for walks. You are so correct on the exercise they need, even my 5 pound dogs need exercise. Enjoy the cool weather, I am loving it!

  7. You're not alone Doc. I'm guilty of that too. Where I live people walk their dogs mostly pit bulls and. Cane corsos and mastiffs of one breed or another without leashes . My dog is a rescue Pit Bull and his sad history is he was a bait dog. He's got scars on his head and legs so being around loose unleashed dogs are not good for him as you may well imagine. So I have take him to a forest preserve 10 miles away in order to properly walk him. Not always a possibility for me. So don't despair.

  8. what about cats I walk inside with my 4 cats I walk to the supermarket to the supermarket it’s a long walk. My cats play with each other but sometimes I come 🏡 tired, they want to play I’m to exhausted so I lock them up!

  9. Hi dr Jones, i have a question about hempseed oil.Do you know if it can be used as a painkiller and if it is inflammatory? Because my dog is on Metacam right now because he has arthritis in both his elbows, his knee and also in his back.Because if the pain is getting worse while he is getting older i have to try something else. And i think i want to try the hempseed oil.
Do you know if it can work and do you know which dosage is safe for a dog that is 19kilograms? And can it be fatal, even if you use a low dosage?

  10. You couldn't have come out with this video at a better time. I have an American lab so I definitely understand that need to run. A simple walk around the block will not cut it for Luke . in the summer we're out twice a day for an hour and I encourage him to run not that he really needs encouragement. LOL almost the entire hour with some hiding of treats and a little bit of fun play before we go inside. I'm from Vancouver and it can rain solid for entire weeks at a time this is where the guilt comes in for me I have to learn that the second that rain stops we need to get outside. Luke doesn't mind it if it's a light rain but he doesn't want to go out in the pouring rain. So I'm trying to get in the habit of whenever it's not raining we're outside until the rain starts again. I've always done this anyway but I take at least 2 or three short play sessions in the house where I'll send him to get his toys and he gets all my attention for that amount of time. Be warned don't overdo it or you'll have a big pest on your hands LOL. I've mentioned this before because I think this is the most important thing that will help relieve the stress of a high-energy dog and that is to give them a full body massage from head to toe twice a day. Luke absolutely loves it he'll come and sit in front of me with his back to me letting me know that he wants me to start massaging his back his neck and his shoulders and I'll just rub down his entire body. With dogs like Luke their brain is sending a signal that they need to get out and run. well realistically that's not possible so I find rubbing his legs down really relaxes him and it turns a Restless dog into a big noodle and before I know it he's climbed underneath my blankets and gone to sleep. I really enjoy spending this time with Luke. It's a very strong bonding activity. I'm sorry if I'm coming across like I'm lecturing it's just I understand what it's like to spend long Winters in a house with a high-energy dog and I'm sure as the doctor mentioned there's a lot of people out there that suffer from seasonal depression like I do and knowing that your fur baby is content can take a lot of anxiety away.

  11. Don't forget to exercise your cats! 🤦‍♀️They don't require as much time per se as dogs but need regular daily exercise nonetheless for many of the same health benefits. Because cats can spend up to 16 hours a day sleeping, it is vital they get some sort of exercise where you interact with them and get them moving. Dr. Jones, we love your frank honesty. Thank you!

  12. Beautiful video I love little Tula some dogs are lucky if they get walk once a week a month some don't even get walked never Thank you so much for any and all your video's even if just to vent some day's can be so aaaaaa. And we do what we got to do any way you are never alone …. Have a blessed day. 🙏👍💞

  14. I've been raving about you! But, I have tried the repetitive ear infection issue with Bella, my maltese. I've spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on vets. I'm going to restart the athlete's foot med with the extra oil of oregano which I take as well. Please help! Her skin is beet red.🤕😵😣

  15. The first thing that I need to do in the AM is feed and Rx my big,100Lb. 9YO fur baby and put him out for long enough for me to get my caffeine fix…then we walk. Sometime we walk right away. The PC doesn't go on until this ritual is completed. I'd rather he do his business elsewhere instead of the back yard, and the walk does ME good too bc I'm somewhat sedentary apart from some domestic duties. It's motivating when a creature who relies on you comes to you and puts his paw on your foot then stares at you with those big, brown eyes.

  16. Here's a tip, put your laundry in the washer, then take Tula her walkway. When you get back you can put your wash in the dryer. Or bring your phone with you and check your email while you're walking Tula. Or put your frozen meat in the microwave to dethaw and walk Tula. It's all about multi tasking. You'll be surprised how much time you'll have left.

  17. We all needed to see this video on walking your dog cause we would be lost withoutout our furry companions. Bless you Dr Jones in all that you do. We all struggle but do the best we can. You do more than your best. We all love you Dr Jones. Janine

  18. My 3 y/o Lab. Retriever is having hair loss and his belly and paws are red and swollen and his paws have some bleeding. He's not scratching and is otherwise acting like himself. I took him to the Vet. last month and he was put on high doses of Steroids and Antibiotics. It cleared things up for about 2 wks. and now the same symptoms have returned. He doesn't have vomiting or diarrhea, and is eating fine. Do you have any suggestions or ideas, thank you, I'm new to your channel.

  19. it has been raining here in quebec canada so we havn't been going for our walks zoey dosn't like the rain even when it is time to go potty and it is raining she don't want to go out lol have to give her a little push lol but i do try to let them play outside in between the rain i kick the ball and the dogs will go running after it

  20. I walk my dogs for about an hour or hour and a half depending on how I feel. Once in a while it turns into a longer walk. When my husband comes looking for me because he's positive I've been kidnapped or I've fallen and can't get up or I've been snake bit… When I come dragging in my dogs tell him how crazy I am because I tried to kill them with exercise! Lol
I'm so lucky we have so much property to let them run and play. The wet and muddy days are their favorite. I just take a pause and let them have at it! When they've finished rolling and wrestling they are dripping muddy water and caked in mud! By the time we make it back to the house they are dry and the mud has fallen off! It makes me so happy when they are so happy!

  21. Last night before bed, our Golden wasn't settling down. She had some pent up energy, so it seemed. I "promised" her I'd take her for a good long walk today. It's 5pm, and still haven't walked her. After seeing this video, I feel really guilty. I should give this a thumbs down, but I won't. And, I'll get ready to take Lily for a 40 minute walk…….. Thanks, Doc! Keep up the good work to inspire us, on behalf of our four legged family members.
