I use to eat fish heads in college. It freaked out my room mates. The eyes are great but the best part is in the cheeks of some species. Theres a really soft spot thats pure gourmet gold.
I eat the entire fish, eyes and all, there's nothing left but bones 😀

Urban city people becomes so weak that they can't even eat fish and meat with bones.. Fish just cut and throw out the fins scale and gills ..rest are edible.. Meat without bones is for old and kids..

Nose to tail for all animals. It's a modern problem the obsessionover muscle meat only. Historically all tribal people use whole animal nutrition. We have lost touch as we no longer need to source our own food to survive. We can pop down the store and get it packaged and ready to eat.

Fish heads for free? Man, from where I am from, fish head curry is priced higher because there is only one head per fish!
What a great story. My wife and kids were at a local pier when a fishing charter came back and they were just dumping snapper frames. We asked for them and bought home a heap. We made fish stock and soup, curry and Thai style fish cakes. Unbelievable how much was getting wasted either through ignorance or laziness.

I’m Asian and growing up in NZ in the 90s, my mum could get fish heads, fish roe (from fishmongers), ox tails, offals (from butchers) for free or next to nothing.
Often they used to give us extras coz they didn’t know what to do with them.
It’s good to see that now pakeha and other NZers are appreciating these “offcuts”, and realise that they can be used for creating beautiful and tasty dishes!
in Indonesia there a lot food with based of head fish. curry, soup etc. its not a special case food. but they it at daily basis. maybe is good to get a coverage
