This, this movie is the real deal, passes on with an existential question, we as men are going to have virtual girlfriends like Joi (anime), become copies of each other known as replicants (social media), fight for resources like food and more like we are today (petrol / food / imports & etc) I mean, this movie just "failed" in the box office because it's the real cynical future, it was too realistic, made people not desire to watch it, but this film has become favorite, I'd shelve it and show it to my upcoming, its a masterpiece!
What made this movie great was they made it as good as the first one. He didn't try too hard. They didn't "wokeify" the script. They just made a story that made sense. They didn't interject any of "today" into the movie. That is key. Hollywood tries to interject too much of "the present" into movies today instead of letting people get lost in the movie and forget everything about reality.
Weta Digital & Weta workshop did an incredible job on the VFX. But was minimalist in comparison to say what say Favreau does with his 280 million dollar "Student Films"… I love Jon and his primarily VFX, popcorn flicks are good, just not my most favorite part of cinema, and is comprised of 98% VFX. I was very upset when 2049 didn't play well at the box office. Filmed 95% practical. I felt the world has sort of lost its purity, maybe it's all gone so plastic. I loved the movie, but maybe because I'm 48 and remember the old one and loved it so much. So for me, it played perfectly, and thought the world of it. What a shame. Well, it's like Prometheus, for me I suppose. Didn't like it all that much. But a massive fan of Aliens 1,2, 3. Different strokes I suppose.

CLASsIC!!!
very bad movie, the story was very awkward, predictable, without epilogue, and barely anything made sense
