  1. Thank You, My 14 year old Lab is at the Animal Hospital now being examined. I have a feeling this is what her issue is. I'm not putting her through surgery so thanks for the natural help

  2. Thank You for the explanation! I took my 11 year old lab in for his labored breathing. We used to be able to walk a mile every day, now he only can make it a few houses down before getting exhausted. After a chest x-ray the Vet just said "maybe it's neurological, I don't see anything we should do at this time". But it left me perplexed without any detailed explaining. My dog is kinda suffering and I'm supposed to just shrug it off? I look forward to trying out some of your suggestions. Thanks again for the clarity.

  3. Thank you for this video! I am so glad to see some natural remedies!

I recently brought my 11 year old lab mix (don't know mixed with what else – we got her from the pound but probably Pit and possibly Dalmatian) to our vet for her biannual exam. One of the things we asked to get checked out was she occasionally makes a gagging/choking sound, especially when drinking water from the bowl. It doesn't happen every time or all the time – not even every day. The vet shared a few possible diagnoses: one was infection (because she had some mucus in her throat) so she was prescribed doxycycline and the other was laryngeal paralysis. He did not put her under to look at her larynx, just did a quick exam (which I am okay with for now). He recommended monitoring it to see if it worsens and like you said, getting rid of collars. I wonder if maybe it is allergies?

Also, what I REALLY want to know is if you think chiropractic might be helpful? In your video, you said it was nerve damage and chiropractors work on the nervous system. I am a chiropractor and I asked a couple of my chiro friends who adjusts animal (I don't), and they said they don't do manual manipulation on the animals. Instead, they use instruments to adjust. I don't see a down side – I just wanted to know if you think, in general, if it might be helpful? I understand you cannot comment on my dog as you haven't examined her. Thanks again!

  4. Thank you so much for this video. My eleven year old lab has it and back legs weakening. He collapsed due to breathing difficulties twice on separate walks. I've stopped walking him and he is happy enough at home. Fairly mobile as long as limited. I hide his food around for mental stimulation and exercise. Will try your suggestions. Is it possible to say what remaining time span I'm looking at with him if he continues like this? Many thanks 😊

  5. I have a pomeranian that is making all kinds of snorking noises and his tongue turns blue occasionaly doing a c/t scan and bronchoscopy on an upperway exam they told me he had a mild cleft palate he's only 5 pounds. Keeping my fingers crossed he comes out of surgery ok if he needs it.

  6. I'm very curious as to why you said you don't think you would have tie back surgery done if your dog had this condition.

My dog started exhibiting symptoms when she was 10. Exercise intolerance primarily and minor raspy breathing. My vet at the time said there was nothing wrong with her and they didn't hear any raspy breathing while she was raspy breathing. I saw a second vet for a second opinion, and they determine something was wrong, but they weren't sure what. After a bunch of tests, we decided it was laryngeal paralysis. My second vet did not recommend surgery but was not opposed to it if that was my decision. Originally I decided not to do surgery as I heard most of my acquaintances dogs had died after the surgery from aspiration pneumonia. I joined a GOLPP in dogs FB group where I learned a TON. Well there are still many sad stories, I heard a lot more success stories after joining this group. Then after her first breathing crisis episode of almost suffocating in front of me with there being nothing I could do to help her beyond keeping her cool and calm, I quickly changed my mind. At this point she was 12, and other than the LP, she was extremely healthy and active. We are now 7 months post surgery and she is 13y8m old. If I hadn't done the surgery, I don't think she would be with me right now. Every moment I have with her from now on is an extra blessing.

  7. I just found you when researching ILD with coughing/gagging/hacking up. Heart problem ruled out.
Our 13 y/o Havanese S/Fe needs Flovent twice daily. It's breaking our budget. No generic.
Do you have alternatives for Flovent and ILD treatments (support)?
Thank you for your video outreach.

  8. My lab has GOLPP, though his legs are more affected than his larynx. My concern if using honey would be mitigating the possibility of excess weight-gain from all the sugar in it. What would you suggest. Thanks for your videos.

  9. Thank you! thank you! and my dog Ollie thanks you for such an informative video full of alternative cures that will possibly help him breath better. I don't want surgery since he is 15yrs young, and don't want any more medications that will only cause him to have anxiety, lack of sleep or eating and trowing up! I just want him to live comfortably for as long as possible.
Thank you again, I will try all the alternatives in this video and hope for the best.

  10. Dr. Jones, thank you for your video. I found you when I searched lar-par, which is trying to kill my 11-y/o pup. I'd love it if you could direct me to some more information to support your statement that this condition is an inflammatory one. That being said, is this really treatable? I've just found you today; I don't know you from Adam, so I am trying to rely on data.

Secondly, I've recently been following Dr. Pradip Jamnadas MD, and his lectures about how fasting can address many metabolic and inflammatory problems in the human body. Do you know of any data that might suggest that fasting can be as beneficial to a sick dog?

  11. My dog has been diagnosed with this after almost 2 years, many vets and thousands of dollars. Now the only practice (3 locations to monopolize and price gouge) in my area wants more that twice then national average price. I was wondering if anyone has tried BVEAP surgery from a doctor in Malvern, Pa?

  12. Thank you for sharing these effective remedies Dr. Jones. I have been using several or yours for my small Pom, including magnesium which has been quite effective. However walking and exercise brings about the noisy breathing and I am concerned he has the above condition. He has been cleared of Kennel Cough and Collapsed Trachea. Along with your suggestions, what are your thoughts on the use of green tea and/or leaf mixed into foods? Also, do you feel that ground turmeric would be a good addition to his meals? Warm regards.

  13. Is the licorice a tincture in alcohol or glycerine? Is it okay in capsule? Our lab who has larpar takes a corydalis formula for inflammation that has Corydalis root, white peony root, and licorice root in equal proportions. Would that be sufficient? Or shall I make her some tincture? I make my own for my Lyme disease protocol, so I would just add her in. Like mama, like doggie. ☺️

  14. Hello I hope you see this I have an important question. My dog is a 3 1/2pnd long hair chihuahua with Alopecia from gray skin they say. Most important here is he has LARYNGEAL PA.RALYSIS I had the tie back surgery done for him he wouldn't be able to get air in and had to at one point get oxygen for him and not leave my house because I didn't know when it would happen , it took months before the vet figured out what it was. I went to a specialists and found out the problem and had the surgery that day. question is how can I feed him home cooked meals, what to cook for him and how do you get what he needs in it? I feed him soft food by wellness right now and every bite is a little meatball while holding him upright because I have not yet got the bailey chair. I then have to hold him like this after he eats until he burps, like a baby!!..lol!! If I don't do this he will later start hacking and most of the time food or something comes up and doesn't I guess, make it all the way back down and he ends up with pneumonia. He has had this about 5 times now and it is just over a year since the surgery. I am having trouble with what to feed him. He is on Sildenefil, cisapride, and omprazole. Do you or could you give me any suggestions on what I can make for him and what to add so that he gets everything he needs? He is mock 90 all the time like nothing is wrong with him even though obviously there is and he has back leg issues he has had his whole life paws roll under and legs go out to side when walking or running not like a normal dog but he doesn't care he thinks he is fine ..lol!! he will at times when setting him down turn his head and lick or bite at back like it hit a nerve or something. So he has some issues and I would at least like him to have a good diet and not a crappy one so he can be with us as long as possible with all his problems. If you have any advice or if anyone does it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!!

  15. Why would Chester’s owner exacerbate the problem and potentially cause pain and discomfort by making him do strenuous activities? This feels cruel. And she keeps making him speed up. Makes me sad

  16. This video was so informative. I took our sweet lab to the vet yesterday for something unrelated and she told me our dog had this. This whole year, I thought he had arthritis in his hips and this is spot on what he has. I’ve never even heard of this! I basically bought every supplement you mentioned and started him on this today. I also am asking vet tomorrow for rx for doxepin.

  17. These can help treat Laryngeal Paralysis in dogs Organic Lion Mane mushrooms with no fillers and made from the fruit can help heal and regrow nerves and take 3mg a day, 3 mornings and 3 night. Organic St John Wort for nerves and also Organic Moringa powder 1tsp medium dog and 2 tsp large. Moringa contains 17 times more calcium than milk, 25 times more iron than spinach and more potassium than bananas and also has magnesium, Vit A, C, E, B6 so is amazing and gets rid of arthritis pain in 3 days and for humans and is called the miracle tree! It's cheaper than CBD and has more benefits. Mix it with water and mix in dog meat. I also found out dog food has the wrong zinc in that is non-absorbale so give your dog 25mg per 50lbs of zinc glutamate daily will help as it's vital for nerve function and B12. I also give my dog iodine powder as Flouride in water reduces iodine and give my dog L Glucosamine for muscles and L Glutamine helps Gaba which is the nerve signals is another great one. I give my dog probiotic powder in the evening food with L glucosamine as the moringa is antibacterial and may kill it so put moringa in morning food the kelp powder?

A diet of sweet potato, green beans, carrot gluten-free dog meat with a high percentage of meat in having between raw liver and beef mince but make sure to freeze the meat for 42hrs before feeding to kill bacteria and thaw naturally, you can mix in a bit of brown rice till the get used to it. Marrow bones, chicken necks are also good for dogs but freeze 42 hrs before again.

  18. I just found an interesting article about goats and sheep with the same condition that had copper deficiency. Apparently, copper is needed for a healthy nervous system, could it be the same for dogs?
