  1. My husbands mother passed away & we now have her dog & he’s a part of our family. From day 1 he licks me constantly! I actually love it! He sometimes licks my husband & our boys, but mainly me lol

  2. My family's late dog, Toto, would always lick my eyes in the morning when I was in high school. It was as if he knew I was supposed to get up and that was his way of making me wake up.

  3. Mine has afew but she isn't excessive, it's usually a thank you, kind of like her patting me. She's 9 and definately knows she won't get more food or whatever, so just says a quick acknowledgement

  4. We have 2 dogs and 1 of them is just like yours lol. When someone unfamiliar comes over they'll ask if she bites and we just tell um no but she'll lick you to death 🤣. She's one of the most affectionate, gentle and smartest dogs I've ever known to be honest with you.

  5. My 9 month old staffy has been licking the life out of me for the last 15 minutes straight, that’s why I’m here lol,he has such a great temperament, but he does have the odd spell of acting absolutely crazy,I love my dog

  6. I was more thinking that might because of anxiety in dogs! Maybe kind of OCD is developing inside them that they want to keep everything clean. I also noticed anytime my dog want me to play with him, first he lick my hand for a while and then he brings his toy! But I see when his home a lot, he start licking me anytime he see the opportunity! I think he mentally become more worried about being clean! I’m not sure if it’s case or not! But it may worth it to do a study on it! Can dogs get OCD or not 🤷🏻‍♂️

  7. I adopted Labrador retriever mixed beagle, he is 5 months old puppy now , i adopted him when he was 2 months 16 days old , he love to lick too . My daughter is 16 years old ask brownie why u love to lick 🙂 so is so affectionate, in the morning he wake up laying next to me and find my face to lick
, i am even hide my self under blanket 😆

  8. Oh my goodness, THAT is exactly what my dog does to me constantly. I love him with all my heart. So I'm not annoyed by it. But, sometimes I don't want him to do it… and I'm curious why he's like that. I just figured he was sort of neurotic for some reason. I love him either way. ❤️

  9. My dog loves to lick me relentlessly. So, today I did an experiment. I washed my arm in hot, soapy water using unscented soap and then washed my arm thoroughly in pure water. Well, apparently, I’m just a big old salt lick dog treat because she licked my arm a few times and then walked away.

  10. My dog tried to trick me today. He played sad for 6 hours straight and i didn't like it. Finally I took him outside without a leash at 1am, but I sensed he was up to something, so i put the shock collar on him before going out. There's a neighbor with a female dog in heat. He pretended to use the bathroom, I pretended to not look at him. He made a break for it. ITS 1AM, SHES NOT OUTSIDE. I do admire how his tenacity)))))

  11. Thanks. Touch is the first form of birth communication. The mother and most animals lick to clean and move the animals energy. In comparison your dog might be finding you not responsive and licks to awaken you

  12. It might be cute but it is dangerous for a dog to lick you… Some dogs carry a certain type of disease that can cause a bad infection in humans which causes them to lose limbs, and destroy other parts of the body. I saw one lady let a dog lick her baby's snack and the baby ate it; that was awful!!!!

  13. Dogs lick for many reasons…
#1. Sign of submission. (Especially female dogs.)
#2. Your sweat tastes really good.
#3. Free meal (Especially wolf dogs will vomit when licked in the face.)
#4. Open wounds on skin- facilitates healing process.
    #5. Habitual greeting.
    #6. Trying to avoid punishment.
#7. Trying to get attention. (My dog is an alarm clock. After six hour of sleep…)
#8. Scared or otherwise excited and communicating emotions.
    #9. Cleaning.

  14. My dog is a mini dachshund, and she licks me non stop until she slowly
moves down to my thigh and then proceeds to hump my leg savagely,
then comes up and licks my face as to say "thanks" then she goes under
her blankets for a few hours.

  15. I have two dogs. One of them likes to lick me a lot and the other doesn't lick very much. But the one that licks me a lot I think loves me more than my other dog because it always follows me around and any time I go to the bathroom it will wait outside the door for me until I get out. My dog also likes to sleep in bed with me. It also wines any time I go some where because it misses me but when I come back it gets all excited and jumps on me.

  16. Yes, they lick because they love you, but the mechanism is a little different than most people understand. Dogs are very olfactory driven and when they are after is your smell and sharing their smell with you. Its a way of saying, I love you so much I want your smell on me and I want you to have my smell on you. You have to look at it from a dog's perspective. Their only way to pet you, since they don't have hands and cannot return that form of affection is to use the one part of them that is flexible enough to 'pet' you. And I'd guess that from the dogs point of view, you petting them is interpreted the same way, you wanting their smell on you.
