Hi Doctor!! I have written numerous times about my 11 yo GSD, Liezl. She's my Bestus ever baby. I'm sure we have several of those. I wrote frequently about her itching issues. Three years ago it all started. Eventually, I had made, purchased, borrowed, and begged for a new way to help her. Nothing helped. No shampoos, conditioner, tonics, concoctions, or crazy ideas would work. I researched until I realized she has seborrhea. I spent hours religiously scraping every flake off of her. She's dry, oily, and oily then dry. Ugh!!!! We had her on a great combo of one cephlex, one half fungus tablet, and 2 hydroxizine. UNTIL… 12/21, she had seizures. Well, the vet prescribed Kepra. We had to make the choice to let her have seizures or itch. We chose to take care of seizures. I tried ONE more shampoo for seborrhea that I had not tried. I left it on 15 minutes, scrubbed the wall of seborrhea under her neck. I scrubbed feet, sides, along spine. She had never followed me to the shower, but this time she did. I was so blessed at the result. She was so blessed to be "itchless" for an evening. I substituted one more thing. I have given her melatonin bites at bedtime. I'm now giving one Charlotte's Webb CBD hemp chew from Petco. It's worth a shot I thought. It's been two days and nights. She hasn't itched. She's got dandruff and small patches of hair gone. That grows back. So glad to see soft, hydrated scalp instead of oil. She has a way's to go, but in all her years, she's never complained. That's how people should be. For what it's worth, this is Liezl's story. Hope everyone finds help in the words. 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️
This is a good reminder. My dog is turning 19 this month, and doesn’t handle the heat well. He is prone to seizures when he gets too hot. I often wet a washcloth and put it in the freezer, after about 15 min I place it over his head and body to help cool him down. He also spends much of his time laying in the path of the fan.
Thank you for this video. I’m in tx and have 2 labs and the heat has been brutal. They love the dog park but I haven’t been able to take them because of the heat. You are amazing.
Due to heatwaves in the UK and Europe as well as the US and Canada we all need this advice. Can you also do the same for cats and small animals like rabbits so we can help them as well. Thanks Love and purrs
I absolutely hate hearing any dog in a car even for one minute! Store owners do nothing. Just imagine wearing a fur coat inside a car where the temperature is much hotter! Also watch the pads of their feet on hot asphalt.
