Hi Dr Jones. I have a pit/heeler mix. I got this pup at 7 months old. A very quiet and well-behaved dog. He was rescued from a bad situation so a lot of his behaviour was submissiveness, however he quickly learned and followed commands – sit, stay, lie down, bring me your toy, etc. A very loving and happy dog. Enter problem: He was bitten by a rattlesnake at 10 months old. I had benadryl in my pocket and gave him 50 mg on the spot, he was 50 lbs. Luckily, the bite did not cause problems other than swelling at the site. The next day my stupidity took him to a vet where she injected him with steroids before I had a chance to say, NO! He immediately started panting and his eyes bulged. He became manic and agitated, he paced, and became jealous and somewhat aggressive. Three months later he is out of control, he still pants and his eyes are bulged most of the time. He won't listen. He seems confused and disoriented. Is there some way to help him? I tried chelating with curcumin, MSM, and milk thistle, but to no avail. I am so sad that I took him to a conventional vet where steroids were used. The damage seems permanent but I am patient and have hope. Any suggestions at this stage of the game?
The puppy is very sweet. My dog has been in the stubborn state, she is an aussie/border collie and at age 8 month is driving me nuts. She listens only half the time, any ideas? She gets ton of exercises and training and fun and good food, so we need to rethink what we are doing wrong and right. The food is good but when I run out everything stops or we end up back to stubborn. She is not our first dog, I have a lot of experience with a variety of dogs, but this one is a goofball. Any ideas?

Thanks for sharing this training info. The short lease seems especially helpful to keep a puppy focused on your commands so close.
