I’ve gotten such bad advice over the years and I often wonder how these people ever graduated from vet school.
Diplomacy. I don't question my vet, I just take all their information along with my research and then make a decision. I've been treating all my little Zoey's medical issues naturally and my vets are very supportive. Part of the reason they are supportive is because the natural/herbal blends have been working for years.

It's called being diplomatic…I fortunately worked for a very smart vet…so now when i take my dogs to a vet… I might question to much..I dont like to tell them I worked for a vet 30yrs..I think it makes some defensive??
I had a vet on Long Island that was wonderful, I moved to Tucson 10 years ago I still have not found a vet I would trust with my babies. I had a bad experience and lost my Bella 5 years ago. They have Valley Fever here they turned it into some racket. A 30 supply about 6 years ago I paid about 50.00 30 days later same script cost 298.00, this is the gods honest truth. You have some vets that have something against Pits , I wish I never moved here.
People. Advocate for yourselves and your pets when it comes to medical community.

My vet got sick of me. He would put down I refused treatment. I stopped going there. I was trying to be the vet I suppose but needed him to guide me with my suggestions. I dont want shampoo that cost 25.00. We just weren’t on the same page. Never looked back.
Most have become about the money, they push prescription’s and new age trial experiments. They said without surgery my dog would most likely go deaf, so we agreed. Six months later she is deaf after their “surgery” that cost us around 1,000. I could have just popped it and cleaned it, and had the same or a better outcome. Plus they are constantly pushing laser therapy for our other old lady. I have been doing a ton of research and will from now on be treating them naturally!
True, but a vet should understand that a mixed breed dog lab/ rottie is a double coated dog prone to year-round shedding. But no, this particular vet prescribed so many drugs that had an adverse reaction to drugs it didn't need. This dog was my landlord's dog, that she gave away to me.
I have 1 year of animal science courses from a PNW college before my program was cut. My mother was a pharmacist, so I grew up reading all her drug magazines.
Basic google research could have prevented the bad behaviors from all the human drugs these Southern vets prescribed to my dog. Interestingly, many of the large animal vets I have met understand dog and cat health better than those that say it is their specialty .

I think as pet owners we see our pets on a daily basis and know what are pets are experiencing .vets are only human and sometimes cant diagnose animals with only one or two visits .i do trust my vet but he does listen to me about my concerns and thoughts .there recently was an incident with my 15 year old cat that was very sick .blood work came back normal .he seen the cat did have some dental issues and started with antibiotics but he also mentioned a jutting chin which steroids should correct but if it didn’t he was afraid It would be an aggressive form of cancer and I might want to put him down if it was the case. But I know that he had this jutting chin for afew years .needless to say the jutting didn’t go down .the vet did actually researched it on his own and told me this condition is seen a lot in bulldogs and very rare in cats ! We finally got his dental issues taken care of with extraction of some teeth and antibiotics . He is doin much better and hopefully I have him afew more good years ! So having a vet that listens is very important ! Thanks for all you do !
People doctors have issues with push-back too. My feeling is “two heads are better than one” when it comes to solving health problems. Discussion and idea-sharing are a better strategy than shouting over someone.

Waaaaay too many doctors have their Fanny up on their shoulders. I absolutely will hunt for another provider if they are not willing to know that they aren’t God !
Since this is your fur baby and not the vets, you have every right to question solutions. You need to stand up for the voiceless. Be respectful, but get your point across. Thank you for your insight.

I paid 6 thousand dollars and 6 vets later keep giving my dog prednisone antibiotics this gives my dog yeast infection that is what I wanted fixed they say alergic reaction to flea. Not he has yeast infection
I advocate for my pet and the veterinary is not open to hear us. After all they went to veterinary school. But when I watch my beautiful shih tzu in about June to September his health deteroiate finally the one vet agreed it wasn't food or environmental allergy, she ruled out Cushing's. He developed sores in his paws, pads were sloughing sores over his body. On and off antibiotics from September to January, losing weight, passed out and all the last vet said was lets see what these antibiotics do in December. I could see my precious baby was dying. I had to let Dante go in January. This was 4 yrs ago. This would not have happened 20 yrs ago. The vets you could trust. I have been watching you for some time . You care. Now with the pandemic you can't change vets. My new shih tzu Hunter is 4 yrs ago and the last few months he has be scratching and biting himself. I have him on PetLabs itching relief, PetLabs probiotic, PetHonesty Allergy Immunity. A little bit better. Thank you for being truthful and honest.
When I first met my vet and later my dog's oncologist and surgeon, I made it clear that I advocate for my pets by collaborating, by asking lots of questions to educate myself and make informed decisions. That has never failed. Synergy is the best way to advocate for your pets. Thanks for this important video.

In my profession of 25 years, I've never been afraid to admit when I don't know something or giving credit if someone suggests a solution I haven't thought of. Unfortunately, because of my honest transparency, some want to take that as incompetence rather than being open minded or not having an ego. So I can see why some would take it that way but I can also see the ones who refuse to be questioned for any reason and have an ego that won't allow them to explore possible solutions especially from someone outside thier profession.
Some pet parents are so polite so I answer them some are so rude I end up ignoring them and I pity their pets

Absolutely question your vet. I hate to say it, but some vets are not in it for the animals. I think some vets are more about the revenue for the clinic. I agree with you 100% in this video. I’ve also had vets that start with the basics because they ARE in it for the pets. I have horses, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks…..so I can’t just throw money at a bunch of unnecessary tests. If your vet gets mad because you question whatever, find another vet.
First let me say Dr. Jones, God bless you and thanks for your loving and giving heart. Veterinarians as well as human doctors are all practicing physicians. The diagnosis of both vets and doctors is partly dependent upon what we communicate to them (especially vets for our pets). You must have the patience of Job when dealing with one's health, whether human or pet. Being a doctor or vet requires a special anointing. Not everyone who attended a school/college was anointed for that particular thing. Time will tell. Bottom line. I Pray and allow my God given discernment to kick in on my first doctor or vet visit. It has never steered me wrong. DR. JONES YOU ARE DEFINIETLY ANOINTED FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! You're such a blessing for me and my fur baby🐩. I thank God for Vets like you💗💗
My personal experience with vets and human doctors has been, if I don’t ask, they won’t tell. I took my kitty to the vet today, lab tests showed elevated ALP and albumin, and I would’ve left the hospital without knowing what that means hadn’t I asked her directly things like “What does this mean? How does this affect my cat?” or “What is this lab test supposed to show?” I’m always polite though, I explain to the professional that I wanna understand more. Now I’m trying to study and learn a lot about feline health and nutrition so I know sooner than later when to go ask for a second vet’s opinion.
In toronto canada most vets don't care, blaming it on covid most of the time. They never do a good job. I'm so frustrated to find my dog a good vet like you.

I’ve got a Great Couple of Small Town Vets. They only do what tests the feel are absolutely necessary. They always talk to us first and ask about the testing and then explain all the results. They gladly work with everyone on the cost and take payments if we need them for big bills. I also never have problems getting in to see them when needed. They are they best Vets a Truck Driver could hope for. Large city Vets just aren’t as accommodating and are always busy making scheduling hard. I have a Small City Vet as a back up in case I can’t get to my Local Vets.
Excellent video. Drs PRACTICE medicine and they don't know all. Dr. Jones, I just learned about 'serum drops' for dry eye. The vets never mentioned it to me, I learned about it from searching online. It's curative to the eye and been successful at stopping dry eye. I was lucky enough to find a vet who does this. I got the referral from a compounding pharmacy as some do nothing but this. Exciting stuff.Thank you for the video.

My 11 year old chihuahua started growing this mass which I looked up and knew it was a mammary tumor. And many vets told me she was a senior dog so they didn't want to take a risk. I found vet that spayed her and took one tumor out. The other one he said he wasn't sure about taking it out so he send it to the lab. Lab results said it was cancerous so he recommended me to a oncologist but you know that is already going to be high in price. And good thing I ran into your videos

During the pandemic vets got away with literally MURDER, since pet parents were not in waiting rooms to hear, observe, be there as a CHECK…and if you think rank animal abuse cannot happen in your "oh so compassionate" vet office, just think of them all high as a kite on all that ketamine. Video and audio of what's supposed to be professional vet practice…. literally STEALING from pet parents who have pet insurance…ripping them off, and returning animals covered in faeces dripping from the cage above the one their pet was in. So I VALUE this vet's advice, because there is no way we are returning out pet to an emergency vet office where we are not right there as they handle our animals (unless surgergy). We'll do as our forebears did, learn and deal with it.
Yes…we should always question. Why not? Dr's are not God's! I do all my research. Even for myself. Research! A good dr / vet will work with you. They won't let their ego get the best.
