  1. This is a great channel. There’s so much we can do at home for our pets. Can you do a video on draining elbow joint hygromas in dogs? Would you used a needle only or have to use a syringe?

  7. Honey is an effective cure for many things. However it must be RAW honey, found in health shops or farmers markets. Most supermarket honey is adulterated and honey fraud is sadly widespread in the world today.

If the mass has mostly come out ( after doing several Epsom salt compress/bath – treating the surface with antiseptic- it had burst out through the wound sight – without making an incision- ) 2 hrs after the last compress, I noticed the yellow liquid all over my cats fur. I cleaned it again. Soaked the sight well, put on medicine.
    My cat peanut recently had surgery, so I still have some cat liquid morphine znd I gave him some. He's purring at my feet…I do have multiple types of antibiotics due to having my own abscess and crones disease,, is there a type of antibiotic I might have I can give my cat? And how much…thank you for any help you can give 🙂

  10. Dr. Jones, what alternatives can you advise for those unable to perform this razor puncture/draining procedure? And how do you keep the drainage site open? I drained my cats facial abscess yesterday 3 times of thick yellow puss, it opened very easily with light pressure, but at night the hole was sealed up. It took an hour of gentle warm compresses and patient pressure to open it up again. That was the hardest part for my cat, getting it open. Today I can't get it open to continue draining it and I'm afraid to puncture it as you have described. I don't want to take her to a vet, which is more traumatizing. So I need to both get it open again to drain, without using a razor and flushing out a hole in her head with a syringe, as well as keep it open. The other approach I see people and vets using is to keep applying warm compress and allow it to naturally open on its own. This seems iffy and creates the potential for a huge gross mess of puss where you don't want it, on your bed, furniture, or on you if your cat sleeps on your chest! omg.. I don't have black tea, but I used thyme tea yesterday during the drainage cleanup with an entire roll of paper towels, dipping each towel in the tea before wiping the new puss bubbling out of the hole. I just gave her a dose of cbd oil to sedate her and will try the warm compresses again to open the drainage site. Thanks for your love and care.

  14. My 4 yr old mini fox 10lb got attacked and has what spears to be a pocket of fluid between her chest and throat she kind of hairy and I can’t see if there’s a puncture wound. I gave her some oregano oil diluted with virgin oil. What do you suggest???

  20. Wow! Dr. Jones. I just watched a video of your story. I am all for natural remedies. My cat was bit by a cocker spaniel on his tail. He has an abcess now. Now I know how to care for him! Thanknyou for posting this.

  22. Our older dog has a large cust or boil I'm not sure that's on his back. We discovered it while brushing him and it popped and just keeps bleeding.theres no clear or white fluid,only blood.its wrapped with gauze and coban because it just keeps bleeding.Im not sure if it's safe to try and drain at home or not but cant afford to have him put under nor do we want to.He is 14.Any suggestions?

  26. Wish I saw your channel before today.
    Took my Husky into vet on Monday after waiting a few days to get an appointment even though we are registered.
    The lump she had for those few days was 3cm.
    I thought the vet was going to lance and drain it but no. Put a thin needle in it then pushed it out and in three times then was squeezing the whole lump. Only a drop of blood came out of it.
    Prescribed antibiotics and inflammaties for it.
    Within 24 hours of returning home the lump became very red and hot now it is 9cm, she is in so much discomfort.
    Called vet and was told to carry on with the course, dismissing the fact by poking it has made so much worse. Do not understand why the vet didn't lance it properly just like you have shown here.
    Hopefully I will be able to find an holistic vet near me here in the UK.

  28. Thank you for this video, my gosh.. I have just done the first draining and flushing but my kitty was in too much pain after a while and I had to stop.. I gave him baby aspirin before. Is the flushing going to be painful to him each time? 😰

  29. Need serious help. My dog has a huge bulging tumer like thing that has engulfed her whole toe. Its way bigger than a golf ball now. Its kinda soft to the touch and now in the last few days its sorta sore looking and getting bigger by the day. Should I lance it like in your video? I dont habe money for a vet. Ive had her 11 yrs. She's a bullmastiff boxer mix. And what can I give her for pain?. Also is there any human antibiotics I can give her afterwards? I can send pics so you can see it. I hope you happen to read this. Thank you

  32. Hi Doc! Having the same issue with my 6 month old chihuahua…the cyst is of a golf ball size. Can i give him a warm bath everyday in the morning while having to drain it twice a day? I understand it will help a lot if i keep him clean while he has that hole in his lower back but not sure if it's advisable because his open cut/wound will get wet again…

  33. I love you Dr Jones!🤗 Your videos are so helpful 🐶 I have been wondering whether to open and drain the abscess or wait for it to open on it's own. Also, do most puncture wounds become abscessed?
    I was bitten by my 2 yo Aussie while he was having a seizure. He was on my bed and I put my leg on the edge to prevent him from falling. So the puncture bite is on the back of my calf. Not very easy to see well. 🤓

  34. Would an abscess in my dog spontaneously SPURT blood all over the carpet??? NO PUS!!! Only blood & a lot of it.😢🙏🏻😢 I am worried a family member may be hurting our dog🥺 This person was alone in the room with our dog when a puncture wound bled all over in his neck & violently spurted blood (Only) in a large area of our hallway carpet.😢🥺😢Please help.🙏🏻😢🙏🏻

  35. Please read. My dog has an abscess in her face. The vet originally thought it was a tooth abscess but later identified cancer in her mouth, and now believes that the cancer is causing the infection, and the only way to treat her is chemo, or euthanasia. They said because the infection is in her face that they couldn't remove the infection, even though it had been lanced once by another vet. The infection is the only thing causing her discomfort. The infection secretes very little from the original lancing ~2 months ago, and the abscess is growing. Can I try this? I have no other options..

  36. please reply urgently..my dogs puss wound opened on its own and its about 1 inch big and there are 3 such wounds. will the skin heal on it own again once the infection is all cleared up?
