  1. Now can u do a vid on broken ears? My GS broke her ear playing ball last nite.??? I still dont quite know how she managed shes a big girl and doesnt know her own strength. Im giving her something for discomfort its very touchy but i do not want surgery for broken ear cartilage

  2. you almost have to watch this twice. Once to see how "the poodle" is the perfect demonstration doggie! Then for info. 🙂 It's a relief to know how to help them out in a case like this. I had one of mine years back choke on one of the rectangular raw hyde things after it got wet.

  3. So important. I almost lost my Lab/Dane today while playing fetch. We used a ball that was solid rubber and about the size of a tennis ball. Per usual, I threw it, he caught it. Looked great, until it very much did NOT look so great. It lodged right in his throat. It was frightening. I tried the heimlich. Not sure it helped, but he managed to get just enough air to get to the vet and get it removed. This would have been helpful to know. Fetch has been a joyful activity and exercise for us. Not anymore. :-/ Be warned, it wasn't a fast ball, and it was in a fairly slow activity by this point. Beware. It would have never occurred to me. I was worried about him eating tennis balls.

  4. Thank you so much for this vital information! Hope I never have to use it, but so greatful to know exactly what to do! Hugs to precious Tula, she is so loving and trusting in your videos. Extremely cute too!💖🐾💖

  5. Thank you for the information. While I try to make sure my pet's ball is appropriate for her size, I had a scare a month ago when she found one of her long lost puppy sized balls and was walking around with it in her mouth. You can never have too much knowledge.

  6. I appreciate you demonstrating how to dislodge a ball or other object, Dr Jones. I want to learn to do CPR as well if ever needed for them or the cats. I have two dogs and they don't get small balls but are always trying to sneak the cat toys so in case they should ever manage to get one and this should ever happen I am very glad to know what I can do to get the ball or toy out.

  7. Yes, but maby not long enough, I still have it, it must be the good oil, cos it cost me 9 euro which doesn't bother me, she is nearly 12 & would do anything to keep her healthy & well, how many times a day for the oil, & how should I give it to her, & thank u docter.

  8. That was super wonderful, Dr. Andrew, I'm not a dog owner but I'll know this around my dog friends and have it in my back pocket for them in case it's ever needed. I certainly hope not, but because of you I'll have it added to my pet emergency first aid kit, the part that's in my head.
Thank you for everything and by the way… Tula did an awesome job!!!
    Thank you!

  9. My dog is coughing a lot & at the end of every cough time she wants to vomit but can't, I started giving her organic honey, it's helped a bit, so she vomited the other day, & it was yellow stuff & with it a lump of her own hairs, as she has a habit of licking her bed, is their anything else you recommend I try to give her, & thank you.

  10. Awesome I'm so thankful I ran across ur channel in trying to search for information or help on how to address my dog's paw…,iv watched few of ur videos including the one about paw licking but my dog has created a awful raw and nasty spot from obsessive licking, first I like to make it clear that I absolutely adore my fur babies they r my world right in line with my children so nothing is to good for them unfortunately my means for vetanary services and solutions is highly restricted by the check I draw once a month. Let's face it vetanary care is not exactly affordable!!! That being said I also admire the stand u made for ur beliefs and the freedom to be able to share those .I couldn't agree with u more and for once somebody that is educated and trained not trying to publicize and frighten ppl from exploring possible alternative safe treatments and or medicine.. I wondered if u might have a email for me to reach out to u with a picture of my pup dogs foot and although it wouldn't be a in person type diagnosis if may could just elaborate or do a video or info on visually what u see as the wound and details of how it can to be just to mabey give possible causes and or possible treatments based on as I said a visual picture and explanation of how wound came to be…lol I know that's a mouthful, but at wits end and I tried collars, bandages even a invention of my own to try and cover area to prevent him from more contact ….i am one worried, searching for any help or info doggy 🐕mama!!

  11. Would this technique only work for a ball? What about something else stuck in the airway? My boy once bit the top off his Whimzees dental chew and tried to gulp it whole (Labs often don’t chew). It got stuck in his airway. I couldn’t feel it with my fingers or see it. I kept calm and kept pounding on his chest and trying the Heimlich from the bottom of his ribcage. While it didn’t pop out of his mouth, he was eventually able to cough it up — the tops of Whimzees are oddly shaped, so maybe my pounding jiggled it enough to allow it to pass.

I often wonder if I could have done something better/different. He nearly lost consciousness as he was gasping and gagging for a good minute and a half. I think my keeping calm and confidently encouraging him with “you can do it” also helped because a dog that’s freaking out makes matters way worse. Just as he looked a little like he might start passing out, he coughed it up. In fact, he immediately wanted to eat it! I made him wait to be sure he wasn’t hurt and cut it up so it wouldn’t happen again.

Is there a better way I could have dislodged this piece of hard treat? Could I have used this technique to possibly eject or at least maneuver it so it might pass or come up enough to be grabbed out of his throat/mouth?

  12. Happened to my dog back in the 70's. Did the Heimlich on her fast before she went down. The second time i tried it worked. I had just learned the maneuver weeks before. She lived 15+years.

  13. Aww. Little Tula was shaking. Let her know how much I love her with hugs and cuddles. She helps you to save so many furbabies, and I am amazed that she is so good about it. Sweet girl. I hope you have her for a very long time.

  14. I do love this channel. Even though I dont really learn any teaching methods I do learn lots of cool things about medical things for dogs. But sorry to say the real star of this video is Toola. 🙂 If I tried to demonstraight this my Ruby she would always be trying to kiss me lol. Hope you will check us out and show us some love as well.
