  1. Have you ever heard of a dog almost crawling up on you? Our dog does this ( he doesn't seem to know how to jump on your lap). He will crawl up on my husband while he's watching tv. I always thought it wS mostly for attention but a few months ago he was doing it frequently. Then my husband had a serious stomach bleed from an ulcer he didn't know he had! I wonder if he possibly coolly have smelled something in his breath, so now I worry each time he does this as he's not in good health. ,

  2. Oh, and my little Pippy wakes me up by pawing, love her so much. My little Min Pin mix, Bebop puts his head on my hip and stares at me, like saying "here I am Mom", let's get up and play! My Black Lab Thunder gets his nose under my arm and throws his head back gently saying "give me some attention mom"! Their personalities are so sweet and fit each one of them. ❤🐾❤🐾❤😍

  3. My cat does this at weird times or no real specific time lol sometimes he'll walk up to me standing on his hind legs stretch and reach with one paw then both like saying pick me up, other times while sitting he'll sit there and reach with one paw against my leg (never claws out though) like he wants something lol its so cute

  4. yep, been there done that many many times, and that is right Do Not reinforce bad behavior… they don't know it's bad, they don't know they hurt you… but, You have to learn to discourage it. And no, it is not with being mean and abusive to your animal.. they do understand tones of voices and a few words… and NO is one of them.

  5. Hi there Dr.! I was hoping you could do a video on noise phobia and generalized anxiety. My dog recently developed noise phobia (she's almost 5 years old) and nothing has worked. I took her to a veterinarian behavioralist who suggested I put her on Prozac. After much thought, I just gave her her first dose last night. Would you mind sharing your experience as a vet with anti-anxiety medications and dogs? Thank you in advance! – Andria

  6. My dog Woofie is the pawster child for the pawing dog. His eyes are so intense when he does this! They DO speak English, but it is we who do not understand DOG! They don't need words. It matters not what "language" we use, it is our intonation and "feelings" that dogs utilize to understand us. We are so far behind our best friends intelligence.

  7. Dr.Jones first off all your videos are very helpful especially to a first time dog owner like myself.
    I do have a question:
My dog has redness on his paws. And he licks at it and chew at them over night.
We have been to the vets multiple times and they saw its allergies give us a medication. And eventually my dog gets the same redness on his paws all over again.

What do you recommend? Any home ideas to help this?
Thank you for all the informative videos. They really do help.

  11. My 8 year old Bernese mountain dog Diesel has artritis, since I give him CBD and Dr Jones supplement he is like a puppy again, playfull, souple and more energetic. Thanks Dr. Jones for all of the good advice!!

  12. 🐶My dog Duke "holds my hand" when I rest it on the gear shifter while driving my car. He sits in the front seat next to me & he will put his paw on top of my hand, he leaves it there until he has to lean into the corners, lol. 💜🐾🐕🐾 🚘💜

  13. My dog paws me when I'm on the computer, and I know he wants to be petted. He also paws me when he wants food. I think that's a very smart way to communicate with me. 🙂

  14. One paws me while I'm driving and the other paws at me at home. I assume they do it for attention or comfort or they want something. My boy paws at me while I'm driving, he never did that until he became older and ill, so for him I see pawing as comfort. The other is a rescue from a highly abusive past so I feel she paws for reassurance. I don't mind either. I love them both so much. And sometimes it can get rough and hurt. But they don't know any better. Tula is the smart one there lol, she's sitting back all comfy minding her business!
