  1. I'm so glad I found you on YouTube! My little 6 & 1/2 yr old yorkie was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus about 4 weeks ago. Her vet started her on 2 units of insulin twice a day and now giving her 3 units twice a day and her BG level is still running between 400 & 540. This has been really stressful bc she hates the shots. I give her a probiotic everyday and a 6 in 1 superfood supplement bites, & I feed her twice a day organic chicken breast and roast/ steak cooked medium on grill and I add 2 spoon fulls of Wellness Complete Health dry food for small dogs. I also started giving her on Primalix blood sugar balance about 1.0 ml 3 times aday. She's getting alot of protien. I think I have her on a good diet, but her #'s are still high even with the insulin & it's been almost 4 weeks. Should I take her off the Wellness dry food, could that be the culprit, & if so what kind of wet food should I give her?

  2. How about excessive drinking when they are puppies? My puppy is 14 weeks and drinks a lot of water. We have him since he was 8 weeks and he always drank a lot of water. Is it normal or can it be a sign of Type 1 diabetes?

  3. My 75 pound, 8 year old Husky has started drinking excessively recently. He has never peed in the house until recently. So we started to cut him off from water around 8 p.m, still pees in the house. Then as soon as he goes outside he goes straight for his water bowl. At the dog park he goes straight to other dogs water. Drinking my cats water if he finishes his. This has all started about 2 months ago. I’m about to lose my mind he’s becoming extremely predictable with water and it’s pissing me and my wife off. An example: last night I filled his water bowl up, probably like 32 ounces. We watch him walk over and drink almost the whole damn bowl. Guess it’s vet time… wtf

  4. How many times is a normal amount of urine for a medium sized dog like a Shar Pei to urinate? I noticed my young pup was going 3 times a day now i started noticing 4 to 5 times a day some times hes now 1 year as of March 20th

  5. First and foremost I love your videos .., really informative and very brave of you to boot … let’s face it, the veterinary community is really ticked … I live on Manitoulin Island and we have ticks, more than a few .., I give my dog a monthly tablet called Simparica sarolaner 80 mg is there an alternative?

  6. Thank you doctor. My dog had a complete wellness exam 2 weeks ago, and his vet asked me if he is always thirsty, I said yes, but I was not given a prognosis for this. Hmmmm I need to follow up

  8. Is there anything else that can cause this? Our cat is about 17 and has had the tests and is not diabetic. He also throws up a lot. They can not find anything wrong except he is dehydrated and we are doing Iv water a couple of times a week at home.

  9. My 1 1/2yo female pomchi doesnt have diabetes or drink excessively however shes had 2 bladder infections- my vet says its unusual for puppies/young dogs to get them, whats your take? Both cleared with antibiotics rather quickly. Incidentally she got her 1st one July 2018 & her 2nd was this past July-is that weird the same mo, 1yr apart??Love your vids!

  10. Thank you Doc!! I had a cat pass in 2006 from diabetes. Even with a 1K hospital stay. I brought her home with her insulin and she passed within the week of being home. 😫 I was working 12 hour shifts at that time and I had 6 other cats. I didn’t notice any change until it was too late already apparently😢 I appreciate you sharing this important information with us.

  11. I have a yellow lab that drinks and pees excessively. She doesn’t seem to know when to stop. She drinks constantly and dribbles pee constantly. I had her tested for diabetes and the test came back negative. She is, however, epileptic. She has been this way her whole life apparently. I didn’t get her until she was 8 years old. She is now 11.
