  1. I'm watching this video 1 week after I had to put my cat Teddy to sleep because of this condition. I will always wonder what I could have done different to keep him alive and it hurts really bad to lose him. He was only 11 yrs old. He stopped eating and did lose a lot of weight. I took him to the vet and they did blood test gave me some antibiotics and steroids but they were never really clear in telling me what to do . I asked several times "what do I do" and I could never get a straight answer. I got info from youtube videos like syringe feeding which I did. I wrapped him in a towel to keep him from scratching me and that worked really well. I fed him 2 syringes of can cat food 3x a day and didn't dilute it with water and it worked for a while but Teddy still wouldn't eat on his own. After syringe feeding him for a month Teddy stopped drinking water and declined very rapidly after that so I put him down. It Breaks my heart and I tried so hard but I couldn't keep him alive. He went thru the same thing about a year earlier when he lost weight and stopped eating and I started feeding him tuna and he came out of it and returned to eating and returned to his regular size and weight. This time nothing worked. I really loved that cat. Going to miss him for a long time.

  2. I rescued a cat and had her spayed 4 months ago and her stomach is big she doesn’t seem to be in pain that I can tell. She had three kittens and I took all of them in they are Ferrell and she isn’t so I put them in my Florida room so I really haven’t paid attention until she was just laying around she is drooling she eats and she is drinking not sure if she is pooping so I’m keeping her in a room separate with a litter box that she is only using to see I guess what I’m asking is do I need to take her to the vet

  3. I've been force feeding my cat with hepatic lipidosis for 2 weeks but she's not any less yellow and she got much worse after leaving the ER (I imagine from the stress). I have been getting about 200 calories in her over a 24 hour period but I am mainly using Gerber Baby Food (Ham). It is 55% protein and she tolerates it well. Other calories come from temptation treats that she will eat on her own, some nutri-cal, and if she does eat on her own it is roasted duck that I pureed for her. I could not afford the feeding tube or FNA. But the ultrasound showed inflamed gallbladder and bile ducts. In general, I do think her body language is better and she has gained weight; before she looked like she was in constant pain and three times I rescheduled hospice to put her down as I could not bear to see her suffer. However, she rarely will eat anything on her own and I wonder if that is because she also has stomatitis. She also has IBD & CKD, so this process has been grueling and difficult. How long am I supposed to be doing this for before the yellow fades and she regains an appetite??

  4. I think Solution being forced does not seem correct. Only way to lose liver fat is fasting which cat was doing correct. Longer the fast cat will go in Keto and lose liver fat so should have not stopped cat fasting by force feeding. After 1-3 weeks of fast Cats insulin management would have been corrected. After this cat should have been given Fat/Protein( 70%/30%) as One meal a day to get insulin in order and lose fat.

  6. Thank you for this video as i recently lost all my kittens from jaundice once the mother stopped weaning them, in under a month. It was heart wrenching. After the first one died the vet told me to feed them Royal Canin mother and baby kibble which i did but they all ended up dying. I never ever want to experience that heartbreaking scenario again ever. It nearly half killed me. Please help me as what to do next time to prevent kittens from dying at home and not having b to rush them to the vets to only be euthanised in my arms holding them and sobbing whilst i watched them pass away. They were all wormed with milpro at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 weeks to. The mothers had no sign of jaundice. Why did they all die? Please please help me understand. I can never go thru that again. The kittens were approx 10 – 12 weeks old.

  7. My cat was 30 pounds three years ago he is a Rag doll . He started losing weight every time I left town to visit family . He is so Sensitive to all foods . It’s been hard finding something he can eat that doesn’t give him diarrhea and vomiting. I have tried fish and chicken . Some makes him sick Depending on the brand . He use to love dry cat food but it makes him ill. He lost a lot of his color in his fur but it’s coming back .I have been giving him Vitamins minerals probiotics to help him .He has a enlarged liver , he is now at 10 pounds .He started getting a tumor on his toe it’s getting large fast . I’m not sure if having surgery would help . The vet said he could not make it through Surgery . Not sure but they said he could have Lymphoma . I have spent so much money in vet bills in the last three years . I don’t know how to help him. I don’t want to put him down .so sad . If it’s just his liver ? I could help and do surgery for his tumor . I would ..it’s a hard choice to make . He is 13 years old

  8. Hello doctor! I found you just today bc my 14yo kitty has just been diagnosed with diabetes. I am hopeful to get it in remission with the right diet + supplements. My baby had developed hepatic lipidosis twice and needed feeding tubes both times (it was 4 years apart). There anything that I can do for her to help with this, such as milk thistle? The second time in 2018 I know using the milk thistle helped her recover. Just wondering how I can help her now with diabetes given her history. Thank you so much for the excellent work you are doing! 💓💓💓🐈🐾🙌🏻

  9. My 13 year old Maine Coon had high GGT levels in her recent blood test. The vet recommended an ultrasound, that i was reluctant to have, as i hate putting my cat through the trauma of being driven to the vet. And the thought of having to shave her saddens me. However, my vet will not prescribe anything until she has an ultrasound. My cat had irregular liver readings last year and was losing weight. She dropped from 5.6kg to 3.9kg. However, we changed her diet (which has always been wet food), to better quality foods with more natural ingredients. Her weight is more stable now at 4.6kg. She is eating fine, and her pooh looks well formed (not runny), though her urine was too diluted in her last urine sample test. She does drink alot of water from her water bowl and the kitchen tap. My sister asked the vet if he would prescribe some ursodiol before having to go down the ultrasound route, but he refused to prescribe anything without doing an ultrasound first. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated as my cat, Foo Foo, means the world to my sister and I. Thanks

  10. One of my cats has this now along with Anemia. She lays around nearly all day and when she does get up she does not make it far; very thin. Went to the vet for two nights getting fluids until her blood become like water and he took her off and she’s been brought home. We are now blending canned food recommended by the vet and forcing it down multiple times a day. Multiple pills/steroids to increase appetite and an iron liquid supplement with vitamins in it for the anemia. She has used the cat litter a few times but also wet herself once. It’s only been a couple nights but the future is uncertain and it is scary. And it hurts that I allowed this to get so bad taking for granted she would start eating again after failing to swap to canned food. She is paying for my negligence and ignorance. I just hope it is not too late to bring her back to normal so I can take care of her as she deserves.

  11. I am so very grateful to you Dr Andrew, I just ordered l-carnitine & taurine for my 19 year old cat with hepatic lipidosis, diagnosed today. I only found out about giving this to her thanks to your video, and am infinitely grateful. I already give her CBD oil, and am glad you confirmed it is a good idea. May God bless you🙏❤️xxx

  12. Hai Dr, I’m from Malaysia today I’m going to vet check for my pet and the vet diagnose with end stage of liver disease, they said this cat not have much time to live, it’s true there have nothing i can do to prevent it ?

  13. This sounds similar to my older cat. She's 12 and became extremely dehydrated. She fell and had to go to the Vet. He didn't help me with her health. He said she was basically on life support. Well, I brought her home after a week. She felt stiff and could not walk. I thought she was going to die. I had no other choice but to bring her home. I've been feeding her raw salmon, garden less, brcolli and rice. She didn't have a bowel movement for 3 days. Before she went to the Vet, she wouldn't eat. Now, she eats like a horse. She has been having bouts of nausea and throwing up. Is it ok to give her milk thistle? Also, if f anyone could help with her medical bills go to gofundme Emergency Vet Bills for My Cat (Molly). Thank you for all the information. I'm currently looking for a new Veterinarian.
