  1. why not just ban grapes all together if they are that dangerous, if they can be that lethal to dogs they are probably pretty lethal to humans as well, don't we use dogs to test medicines and vaccines we use?

  2. I had fed my shih tzu a like of 9 pieces of grapes 6 days ago, as I remember he did vomited the next day after consuming, as today he's been doin well, do I still need to worry?

  3. We’re told about chocolate being toxic for dogs, but an incident with on single raisin taught me a lesson that I learned the hard way.

I wish rescues, and veterinarian clinics would hand out a list of toxic foods, when a family adopts dog.

  4. Whenever I ate grapes, my dog knew she was gonna catch some. Never heard of anything about grapes back then. Nothing ever happened to my dog. Great information, thanks!

  5. A couple weeks ago a bowl of grapes was inadvertently left on the table when my daughters busy family rushed out of the house one morning. Sadly, they lost their precious puppy. I didn’t know about grape poisoning when my kids were little. I don’t know how we didn’t lose a dog to them. I have a home daycare and we have two boxer puppies that eat absolutely everything. My parents send grapes for snacks and I just replace them with a different fruit. It’s too hard to ensure a random grape doesn’t get loose.

  6. We have grapes growing in our yard and he loves them. I don't spray anything on the grapes. He was good to go. I think it's from the chemicals they spray on the food like fungicides and insecticides.

  7. Your work is excellent. I tell all my people who buy puppies from me to use you as a reference. I use pumpkin to worm my puppies. I am not a puppy mill. Only have had two rounds of puppies. After my first litter, I have a waiting list. I use Apple cider vinegar in water and pumpkin with pumpkin seed extract. One of my puppies went to a proper foster family who wanted a puppy but waited 3 years to find the proper one. She contacts me and explains how wonderful her puppy is because it was raised with love. All puppies were parasite free upon inspection by the vet of choice. They were all happy healthy and were bred to fantastic homes. One man contacts me every week when his puppy will be here. His sister got a puppy from me and he cried when he found out that the litter was only 4 puppies and they were all gone. I decided to do this last litter and he is getting one from that. He said he’s is in love with his sisters puppy, and is super excited. Dogs bring great joy and I recommend you to everyone I know. ❤️

  8. I grew up picking grapes and the dogs often would eat some grapes hanging on the vines. I never saw the dogs get sick ever. I also had a Red Healer many years later who ate grapes and yes sultanas and she lived to the age of 12 years.

  9. My aunt has a vineyard, and, one day, she found her dog dead next to a vine. The autopsy results showed that she died from grape toxicity. PLEASE don't allow your dog to have grapes!! It will eventually kill them.

  10. i once gave my grandmas dogs a couple of grapes without knowing. then i found out they were toxic. one of the dogs (age roughly 14yo) got kidney failure maybe 2 years later. do you think the grapes would have been the cause?

  11. My parents got our first dog, a Brittany Spaniel, in 1977. Us Spaniards eat lots of fruit and our dog loved all kinds, including grapes. She never had a problem and died of mammarial cancer at 14 (spaying was unheard of at that time, unfortunately).

  12. I gave grapes to my Jack Russell mix a few times..but I had to stop..not because it was hurting him..but because he'd bite into them and spit them out when I thought he'd eaten them..lol..I would step on them in the dark in my bare feet..LOL..

  13. Well , Late evening I was eating Red grapes and one fell on the floor and my dog ate it . I awoke from sleep to go to the bathroom , i found 2 spots with his undigested food and 12 yes 12 spots of bile , fluids etc. and ,,,,one chewed , half eaten grape . That answered the Question for me .

  14. Dr Jones; is there a difference between food grade Hydrogen Peroxide and the cheapo pyroxide from the dollar store; and shouldn't we be aware that we should be using only the food grade kind; if it does indeed matter….? My black Lab, Theo use to eat grapes too; but we ate whole food grapes from the produce stands back in the 1980s…and, my Lhasa Apso, Bella Lira, also ate grapes; I would peel them because the only thing we had to be aware of back then was the peeling perhaps causing choking…. we never ate GMO foods back then… and I think it's the artificial growing techniques that have changed the chemical analysis in the foods… Believe it or not, I actually did a chemical study using grapes as a project in my Botany class way back… and there wasn't anything that seemed unhealthy to anybody; in fact; everything in grapes were all good… grapes were considered a "Whole Food"… How sad the way things are going so far downhill so fast… but Praise God and look up… Our Redemption draws nigh….

  15. My Havanese (17 pounds) got into my foil wrapped dove chocolates in a candy dish. He ate them all including the foil! Pooped out the chocolate along with the foil. Kind of runny for a couple of days but was fine, thankfully.

  16. My 50 lb puppy got into the cupboard and ate an entire box of raisins. I had no clue they were toxic until he was vomiting (then eating the vomit). We got him to the emergency vet within a few hours of ingestion, charcoal, lots of fluids and he was back at home. Did bloodwork to check kidney function a few times and he made a full recovery.
We no longer keep raisins or grapes in the house!!

  17. I used to work for someone who fed their cocker spaniel almost entirely on grapes and black pudding (black pudding is largely made from congealed pig blood and fat). This was many years ago and he's still alive now.
