  2. This kind of Doughnut is really popular in Germany and other european countries as well, but its not connected to jews or Hanukkah at all here. We call it "Berliner", because its said to be invented in a sugar bakery in Berlin in the mid 18th century.

  3. Uprated.  These are so much work.  I remember my maternal grandmother made wonderful things such as this.  When someone takes the time to carefully do all the steps, pay attention and use the best ingredients they can get, you can never forget the experience.
