@GTRwill4everLEAD All strain names come from a few different variables in the plant.
1. Is the variation and amount of certain chemicals within the plant (Indicas are high in THC8/9 and Sativas tend to be relatively high in CBD and CBH)
2. Is the phenotype of the plant (the physical characteristics) like smell, color, texture, and taste

There were once 2 different smokable marijuana varieties
then growers got a little creative, the mixing of the 2 started
Sativa- head high
Indica- body stone
you wont know the genetics of the names unless you do some research but theyre just names for different combinations
once you have a 50/50 plant and you mix it with lets say a pure sativa, it will turn 25 indica / 75 sativa
And thats how new strains are born! 🙂
