This is horrible in more ways than one. A lot of industries keep under wraps such scenarios that could damage their reputation as a whole. These people are now speaking up about the unprofessional undertones of the industry that must remain as a constant reminder for all of us to step in and voice out our own opinions and thoughts. We shouldn’t be silenced.
Holy hell this was awful to listen to. I know of bad things going on in Sweden as well and I hope it isn't as bad as this. I hope change comes sooner rather than later, I hope.
As someone who worked as a CNA in America for years and left the industry, I have to say ONLY way forward is UNIONS. I experienced everything she said and more in care centers here in America., and I saw male caregiver hit an elder man with dementia, but when I made a report, nobody ever followed on my reports, he wasn’t suspended or removed from the job. I had management lie to family members about the whereabouts of their elder parents. I was new and when the family called and asked I told them the truth , I was yelled at and told I had no right to discuss anything with the family. It turns out the managers lied to the family in order to cover themselves., they didn’t want to be taken to court for elder neglect and they decided to make up lies instead of tell the truth! I told the truth to the family and I got in trouble., I told them their elderly parent had snuck out of the secure dementia ward and escaped the facility., wondering around and eventually falling down and hurting themselves. I got abused and shouted and harassed by elder care nurses and other staff but nothing was done/.! Worst was when I worked at psychiatric hospital., that was a nightmare..! Only way is unions and caregivers organizing and walking out of these jobs by the thousands..! IF the healthcare workers organized as a union and walked out of the job, these employers would be forced to meet your demands or they be forced to close their businesses., and if people are not afraid to stand up for themselves they can get their voices heard.. If workers refuse to work and walk out in protest and demand the pay they deserve for their hard work and refuse to return to work for the greedy employers unless they are paid living wages, there are two options the employers will have to shut down or meet the demands of the workers..! And when I worked in the industry a few people talked about it, but they were too afraid to do anything about it, they didn’t want to organize and start a union., and that’s exactly what the corporations like to hear. Without a workers unions corporations can exploit workers, mistreat them, and pay them coins while they make millions of dollars on the back of their hard work.!
Please repent, turn away from sin, and follow after Jesus Christ. He is coming back soon. These are the End Times. Many people have seen Him. It's not God's will that anyone perish but all repent to receive eternal life. God lives everyone equally. I don't want anyone to be disappointed for all eternity. These are the End Times. Follow after Jesus Christ if you desire eternal life. And please reject the covid-19 vaccine. It belongs to satan.
I used to work as an Emergency Medical Responder/Ambulance Driver in Ontario’s Non-Regulated Patient Transfer Industry.. and yeah, I’ve witnessed so much neglect and suffering. Hospitals, nursing homes, psyche wards.. Even Patient Transfer Management mistreating patients and employees. Seen it all.. Definitely made me realize I would much rather say my goodbyes and have myself euthanized. Sure beats existing in that reoccurring nightmare.
No body can blame patients alone…from first hand experience.carers can be frightening….screaming at sick…stealing…breaking…damaging their items and generally abusive. Physio therapy care is worse…damage and injury to a sick persons body….
Yet, our love for capitalism and privatisation remains. Maybe we secretly rejoice the harm it causes? Long as of course we ourselves remain immune from it.
i am working in a residential home forbelderly people in austria, we are 5 caregivers for 41 people and we also have 2-4 severe cases of dementia which take a lot of time to care for. mostly stress the whole shift, u start the shift knowing that u can't do all the work required in the given time. payment between 10-17 € per hour.
Jesus taught the importance of love, forgiveness, and non-violence in various instances throughout the Bible, No? One of the most well-known teachings related to responding to aggression can be found in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:38-42 (NIV):
"You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you."
In these verses, it seems Jesus encourages his followers to respond to harm or conflict with love, forgiveness, and a willingness to go beyond what is expected. By turning the other cheek, giving more than asked, or willingly accompanying someone for an extra mile, Christians are called to demonstrate a commitment to peace and understanding, even in the face of adversity.
However, it is crucial to remember that Jesus' teachings do not imply passivity or acceptance of harm. Instead, they emphasize the importance of responding to conflict with love and compassion, rather than retaliation or violence. This approach it would seem to me can help create a more peaceful and understanding world, fostering reconciliation and healing between individuals and communities.
I am a Romanian and I know many Romanians who work in UK (and many other countries). They are some of the most hard-working and trust-worthy workers out there. Also it's a shame people treat other people so badly…
I worked in nursing homes for almost three years. As a CNA and on the admin side. The industry is corrupt and horrible. I had to leave to same my soul.
It's also common for the care workers to STEAL from the elderly – bits of cash, for example.
I have a family member under care, and it's happened countless times. They don't exactly have a safe in their rooms. We therefore keep only $20-$30 there but again, theft is common.
I can vouch for this. I'm an independent carer. I've been emotionally, and physically abused. Choked, beaten, stolen from. And trying to get justice for the elderly being abused, and for the carer is almost non existant. The last incident, and I have trauma from this, and medical bills, was from the brother in law of the woman with alzheimers I was a live in caretaker for. I discovered the daughter stealing her mother's money, mixing up her meds, and more. Not even visiting her when she had covid; not caring during the coldest week if tge year, a few days before Christmas that the heat went out in the house. She was miles away and not answering calls, texts. The daughters boyfriend broke the front door, because I confronted the daughter on her mom's behalf, and threw me around, choked me numerous times, held me down while hitting. The daughter watched.
I'm a nurse manager are a care facility in America (Kentucky). I do some direct patient care but not as much as the floor staff. In the past week I've had a patient try to hit me and had to deal with a staff member leaving a resident covered in feces for hours. It was easy to avoid the old guy who thought I was in his house and was robbing him and i got calmed down. I actually went down there because he was being abusive to one of my immigrant workers and I wasn't going to put up with that. Also, the staff member who left a resident in feces for hours was fired for that when another aide reported that.
Not all care homes are bad and some are mostly staffed by people who actually do care. We are chronically understaffed though. If you or a loved one is in any type of facility, please be patient with the people working. They usually do want to come help as soon as you need them, they just have 10 other people who asked fpr help first.
We took my grandmother out of a nursing home because her entire floor was wailing in pain screaming for their morphine. The staff was just keeping it for themselves and injecting 100 people on terminal palliative care with saline. It was a torture house, you could hear the screaming for blocks.
They are understaffed intentionally. The homes where my mother and girlfriend work make more profit by intentionally keeping the staff at half or less than what is required by regulations. If the facility should have 15 people on staff at $20+ an hour, they get to pocket $160 an hour, every hour, ever day if they limit staff to only 7 people. This is standard practice in all of the dozens of homes my mother and girlfriend have worked in.
thats exactly the problems, she is talking about, why i take care of my father, i had him one week on in a care home while i was reovating his own home..after few days he started to lubricate poo. that was for me not to bear. i took him home the next day. waht will i do, i have no kids, i have nobody when iam old…iam scared, thinking about all people, who are helpless and can not defend themselves.
Interesting how the informant left out the biggest care group – spinal chord injured people. In that segment the abusers are care workers being utter assholes to each other just like children in school. When I did this work a male care-worker tried touching me and holing me down so I couldn't leave the house after my shift was over. I didn't normally have problems with clients. I am not surprised that clients with dementia and other types of mental disorders may be agressive at times, it comes with their condition.
omg yes! I have both witnessed and heard some horrible things from people whove worked at a variety of places. Can we stop paying sports athletes 14mil a year and start putting the money where it needs to be? With people in such jobs as teachers, care works, nurses, fast food service, and a whole lot more.

I've been doing caregiving in the US for over 20 years. Thank you so much for covering this issue! ❤
thank you for giving caregivers a platform to connect!

Been there.
Done that.
As long as the flow of money is not interrupted, management takes no action.

Shouldn't this trash channel be gone by now? Actual scummy propaganda artists.

Working with people is hard.taking care of people is the job of a saint .
Treating a patient with dementia is challenging. Their secret service agents are always getting in the way.
This is why care homes should be privatized. Private equity is far more caring & qualified than public carers.
Private equity firms have destroyed care centers in America
