european techniques how because cooking with banana leaf is ancient cooking in the america ever hear of a tamal? If anything I see native american ingredients maiz/corn tomatoes avocado peppers hot and sweet yuca or casava squash all native to americas until columbus arriva and took the europe and the rest of the world.
Please let's stop glamorizing the Sapeur. Its sensationalism. Its a toxic part of Congolese culture. What about our heroes Lumumba? Prof Muyembe? Prof Mukwege? Prof Mudimbe? Sapeur are a bunch of dead beat clowns that spend all their money on foreign brands and do nothing for the local economy…
Thank you so much for this awesome documentary. I'm very into food documentaries but this one ist the best and most inspiring by far. The way Giles is interacting with people, his approach to empower and help others is outstanding Keep on doing things like this <3
"they fled Rwanda and became militia" So they were no victims. They just met villains who beat their ass. Instead of being grateful to their host country they did this horrific crime
Sapeurs are a political statement against anti colonial exploitation against European powers….by allowing themselves to be exploited by Western fashion labels for extravagant amounts of much needed resources…to their great detriment.
I had to stop watching only after 5 minutes, as I had 3 ads interrupting the video in that 5 minutes period. Not worth of my time watching more ads than content.

Good on you Giles.
Cooking starts at 10.00mins. Dislike for the misleading title and wasting 10mins of my life.
One of the best in the series. More please!
