Knowing how much it took that man to ask this of you, how you have since treated his legacy… What an amazing story. I hope nothing but the best for you and your family’s business.
Now I don't know much about the state of little Italy only from what I've seen on tv. This is the area where all the italians were with all the local shops and butchers right? Kind of sad shes the only one left.
I came here making sure that I wasn't crazy. I just visited my local butcher (which they clearly do) but they sold mostly frozen meats….wtf is wrong with the US. I live in rural farm country too. I expected what this NYC shop sells but was disappointed.
This hits close to home for me as my family's trade was butchery on both sides of my family spanning back to my great great grandfather, unfortunately my parents were never interested in butchery so never took over my grandparents shop so it closed. but I've been on a 3 year course to get a chefs qualification and for the past 2 years been working as a butchers apprentice in the same shop my grandfather trained in when he was 15 and I've never seen him more happy then when I told him that I've started to lean butchery to carry on the family tradition.
One of the most beautiful stories I've ever seen on the web. Really touching. She'll always be fine. Brooklyn forever. Top shelf work by Munchies. 👏🏆
Eagle-eyed viewers might recognise this place as Lutzi's from The Marvellous Mrs Maisel.
Beautiful story and I love her narrative on how you choose what you do.
awesome story, but a coat of paint on the storefront would be advised.
Mg grandparents live on Broome Street between Mott and Elizabeth! I’ve probably walked past this store dozens of time. I’ll have to stop by!

I imagine that if the world only had people like Jen in it, we wouldn't have any problems and we'd be happy.
