  1. Do it again! The media has been doing it for decades. Say wat we want or you lose your job. That's why they keep ppl for so long in same job. They will say wateva there told to say.

  2. LoL! This is life watching the government telling us how things are & how they can't make cars & houses that don't need gas & Power lines hooked up. U have to get buried in a cemetery & pay someone to do it. We hear it everyday. Alternator have been on petrol cars since day 1, now they make electric cars they need a huge battery all of a sudden. Let's make more GARBAGE for no reason.

  3. I was so ready to judge the 'con-artists' when I saw the thumbnail 😅😢 As it started I was like, 'they don't seem the least bit regretful 😒'

Definitely a bit lesson on not judging people so quickly or easily 😅

Love this! They worked incredibly hard (and must have suffered immensely. Media storms and backlashes are cruel) and I hope they were rewarded for it in their final grades, Art Careers and infamy at University of Leeds, Art School 😄

  4. ✝️ God loves you. He offers you forgiveness of your sins.

✝️ Repent and believe in the gospel

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
    Hebrews 9:27‭-‬28 NKJV

    The gospel of Jesus Christ
    ✝️
For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
    I Corinthians 15:3‭-‬4 nkjv.

  5. Glad Vice is still putting out quality pieces now and then. More channels should adopt a higher ground approach and provide some respite from todays shitty partisan journalism. I’m talkin both sides.

Appreciate this one though! Great piece!

  6. Just curious, how in the world did anyone believe that a simple thousand bucks would be enough for even just one person, let alone be enough to pay for 13 people to go on any kinda vacation?!?!… 🤷🏻‍♂️ Because even back in the 90’s that still wasn’t very much money.. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

  7. The news asked the students, who lied and then turned around and said "gotcha". Sure it's art, but further investigation of a busy journalist often depends upon what people say. If someone just says, "Yeah, we're guilty," then there isn't much more to investigate. I appreciate the way that it highlights our dependence on second hand sources, but a philosophy essay can do this just the same without making you a $h!th&@d.

  8. It's 24 years later and nothing has changed, if anything, is' MUCH WORSE now with everybody trying so desperately to be "FIRST!" that they rush to push out whatever unconfirmed, unknown garbage they can get as "content", then MAYBE, they might print a correction on the bottom of page 12 a month later (if they get called out). 😒 This firstitis has spread from traditional news and media to social-media; just the other day, DefNoodles was being dragged for posting premature falsities.

  9. I’m kind of more surprised by the fact that it was even plausible for thirteen people, or whatever, to book round trip flights for less than £1,000, much less fund a holiday in Spain as well. Gotta love inflation, and air travel prices skyrocketing, no pun intended…

  10. OMFG ironic how the newspaper coverage included a "Page Three Girl" (a LARGE photo of a topless teenage model with her tits out) on the same page as the Leeds 13 coverage decrying the art students. The fact that mass circulation tabloid newspapers used tits to sell their execrable awfulness always horrified me, but now, it just seems unthinkable and exploitative.

  11. Genius. What is art if not a mirror? I was working in media monitoring at the time but only have a vague memory of the Leeds 13 but nobody who lived in the 20th century could have been unaware of the monolithic power of the tabloid media – which was at its worst during the years Diana was alive – every single farking day she was "news" and on the cover of some tacky awful piece of trash, especially Murdoch's execrable slime. Rupert Murdoch and the other one, the nob who owns the Daily Mail (Viscount Rothermere) are a cancer on society.

  12. What I can’t wrap my head around is the money. Even with inflation, how would 13 people have a beach vacation with 1000 pounds. Even a weekend trip.
Were the prices back then really that cheap?

I obviously get that it was a hoax but. Wouldn’t that sound really fishy.
