Honestly I bet someone already said this but this seems to be nothing unique to the UK. Here in germany its the same. Everything is called joint as long as it contains weed. A spliff is a joint and a spliff is also a blunt… A blunt is called a blunt tho… Joints are as I said called blunts and spliffs too. So basically Joints and Spliffs are called everything and blunts are only called blunts.

It's litterally the same here in Germany, I find it so annoying. Remember back when I smoked with my ex gf and her brother for like the 4th or 5th time (back then I still smoked cigarettes). These people would exclussively smoke spliffs (weed + tobacco) and I didn't complain and basically only smoked pure weed Joints when I was smoking alone. I told her brother that I'd love to smoke a blunt with them one time and that I had Backwoods at home. He looked at me a little confused and asked me if he should roll up a blunt rn. As I agreed and asked him if he had blunt wraps, he just rolled up with a normal rolling paper, around ~0.7 grams of bud, added a bit of rolling tobacco and tried to convince me who must have looked totally confused and disgusted that "you need a bit of tobacco to smoke". Even after I told him what a blunt actually is and rolled up a few over the time, he would still tell me that he calls a Joint with around a gramm or more a blunt and would tell me that pure joints and "what you call a blunt" suck cause they both taste like shit. I still don't get it as today I totally hate the taste and the high of spliffs. Also, I find it so weird that many people in Germany seem to that think smoking pure ain't possible. Many even put tobacco and weed in their bong and tell me that I don't know nothing about smoking weed beacause I smoke my joints and bowls (I'm not a to big fan of bongs anyways) pure 🤦♂️😂😂😂

I grew up in NYC. A joint is when you roll your weed up in papers and a blunt is you roll your weed up in the cigar leaf from a blunt – like a Philly Blunt. For me it was Phillies and White Owls but I’ve always been partial to Dutchies. Some people like Backwoods or Blunt wraps but i don’t fuck with that.
