I’m so glad I’m not alone in finding these cliched expensive ingredients doesn’t make this sushi any more sophisticated than typical sushi.
I particularly find applying gold leaf to any food to be extremely pretentious. It doesn’t add anything to the flavor or aroma. It’s purely a money flex. Nothing more.
Never had sushi, it looks really simple a piece of rice ball ,a piece of old dry seaweed an a raw piece of fish ,is it really that delicious or is people faking it? .an living in America for 30 year .I never had McDonald's either but everyone sure loves it what does McDonald's taste like ? anyone?

I'm Japanese, grown up in Tokyo, had a fair share of experiences in tasting authentic sushi in my life.
I've been to this chef's supposedly Japanese restaurant, and it was disastrous. He believes he has "mastered" the art of Japanese cuisine.
