We always had a rule when going dam. We wouldn't smoke out in streets. Parks and cafes but not in front of kids etc. If you did then your the reason this has happened. Have some respect 🙏🏻

Having been there myself, I can somewhat get what they mean with "it can get grim", but that would be mainly after the shops close down. I've witnessed people chilling and having a smoke while being harrassed by a drunk person that couldn't get a smoke because the shops were closed. Or a shady person walking up to every single person smoking and asking them if they want to buy some hard drugs from him.
So I can see where they were going with that but I guess that they didn't really think it through. It will probably backfire.

The thing that changed is there's no real Amsterdammers in Amsterdam anymore.
They are import Amsterdammers as we call them.
They are a different kind of people that moved to Amsterdam because it sounds prestige.
But then soon realized it's loud and people smoke etc etc.
Now they want Amsterdam to change because it doesn't fit their style…
They should honestly just move all these import Amsterdammers back to Almere or w/e they came from.
