I’ve been a vet tech and sometimes all it takes is mechanical scaling to chop off the tarter. It isn’t rocket science any one with eye sight can do it.
Not sure if I can get my girl to sit still for that. She fights everything. Was wondering about hte ultrasonic scaler. I have tinnitus and looked up the sound for those. It seems to be about I20 db. which can cause hearing loss and tinnitus even if we can't "hear" that high pitch, so I didn't get one. Thoughts?
Dog Gel Toothpaste will get those chunks of tartar off. 2 dabs 2 times a day to keep tartar away. This was a helpful video for people who can not afford expensive cleanings. I did this with our old dog and she did really well.
I’m sorry but damn the way you handle your 13 yr old dog yanking his head around like that makes me not want to even finish watching this what the hell
Sorry, but this is painful for your pet. Plus, you are creating micro-abrasion along the tooth surface that will allow plaque to form more readily in the future. It’s why teeth are polished after scaling in an official cleaning.
Thank you to take the time to show us this! I've done this with my mini poodle and it works wonderfully but I'm worried about some opinions that this can be detrimental on the long term since it damages the enamel. Any thoughts on that? Is it safe if done a couple times a year…? Thank you so much again for the video!
I need to do this today, but my dog fights like mad even though she totally trusts me every other way. When I try to do her teeth, even super gently, she panics and runs away.
Thank you for educating us! 💙 unfortunately my oldest boy has a real bad issue and i don't have the cash to help him..I have dental tools but his issue is too far gone..
Genuine question no criticism here, is this safe to do without polishing after? I read that the scaler creates small dints in the tooth collecting more plaque over time if not polished after, just not sure how true this is? Would love your help 😊
Hi doctor, thank you for your videos and your time! You have a great channel ❤️. Can this be done for cats also? If not, what is a way to clean cats teeth?
Thank you friend r caring about pets of those who can't afford help

Any tips on keeping the dog calm? Our dog will only tolerate so much sitting still and having a cleaning. Any OTC sedatives?

Ordered the scaler asap without hesitation! We love you Dr. Jones and thank you for all that you do from all the furry ones that love you too.
Any suggestions on what to use for the antiseptic after if we don't have chlorhexidine?

CAUTION: always hold scaling instrument FLAT ON TOOTH… you risk poking them or scratching the enamel if you use the tip!
Why is dental cleaning so more expensive than human? More dentist should do these to animals!
What’s the price for dog dental

Is your dog medicated ?
My dog weighs 5lbs, the vet wants $500 to clean her teeth.
Her teeth are in need of the cleaning, but $500 is outrageous. $250 seems reasonable
Does anyone know where to get a scaler?
