Just been to the vet for my 13 year old collie… It was all about money and up sell. 5 minutes of their time and 1 week of pain meds and I was £65 lighter… Oh and offered 3 up sells. No thanks, CBD and massage at home will do the same thing.

They absolutely do, they don’t make enough like doctors and they need revenue to keep the place running. My vet has recommended countless tests that I have refused, luckily I have a good idea of what my dog may have since I am a nurse, but if you don’t work in the medical field and you put full faith in these vets, you will pay at least triple the price of what’s necessary.
if anyone has a dog with Addison's (Happened around time shots rolled out for humans and i think shedding is real). Try Vitamin C as there is correlation with Vitamin C deviancy and the adrenal glands. Dogs are supposed to synthesize their own vitamin c but maybe during the shedding it stopped working properly for mine who's an elder dog.

I took my cat in because she overgroomed. She weighed 3kg as had diarrhoea. The vet dudnt really examine but twice said she may have to be Pts if she loses more weight. It terrified me because I love my cat. He then referred me to there vet hospital for £1000 of tests. My cat is timid and won’t eat if anxious. So because she wouldn’t eat my vet said she needed more tests and may have to Pts so needs more tests. I spent another £300 to £500. The outcome was a food allergy which she wasn’t tested for. She was better with allergy food.
A month before she had cystitis and I had to keep taking samples in. No meds prescribed. I bought Feliway Cystease and the cystitis stopped.
I don’t trust vets. It’s not about care anymore and I think because I love my cat so much I was taken advantage of.

I actually had a vet tech tell me that one clinic had a speaker come in and give a seminar on increasing profits by suggesting tests and procedures. Especially during emergency visits when the pet owners were more likely to agree. She quit the practice a week later because it left such a bad taste in her mouth. Now works for a small town veterinarian.
well i have never had a good vet, even human doctor are not nice. the vets here wants too much fees and it is hard to ask favors to them. Like for example the vet the other day, she wants me to buy everything in the clinic but it is too pricey. Than she refuse to reply if pet is outpatient. When I admitted the dog she did not compute the exact amount that i was asking, so there were hidden charges. Plus since they cannot force feed the dog she told me to go there and bring food for her. but the fee includes her fees, the carers fees, and board and lodging, meds, iv set, fluid, etc. if i will do the job of the carer than why do i need to pay the fee of carer? all he does is do selfie. Than I worried coz the dog isn't eating for a few days she is losing so much muscles, and she has tendency of holding her pee if you don't send her to a grass. so the carer just locks her in the cage. the liver and kidney is problematic so i worry if she holds her pee longer it will add problem. I decided to take her home, the vet wants me to make her stay longer but they can't feed her or walk her out. So i ask her just give me iv fluids and add the doxy and i pay for that but she goes home so I can take care of her better. She refuse, says she doesn't allow that. Than she also wants to sell me her prescription again, since the meds will be oral again no more iv route. But i told her well that is the same meds you gave me the first day except you made it liquid syrup. I told her that can be purchased without prescription it is everywhere on pet stores. That is why i needed iv route is because of stomach upset and appetite lost on oral route but if you can't give take home iv route, than that oral prescription is useless since that can be bought anywhere, plus prescription is free in cityvet. She got upset with me. But you need to understand the situation that you cannot do the proper care, so the best is just give me the iv drugs and i'd pay you for it including your fee. Usually if i give rescue cats to vet, they'd charge me so much than later after a few days the cat or kitten is dead and will text me to pick up the dead cat. it's useless to iv them if they don't eat or move. they are deteriorating in the cage. Sometimes it is better if the cat or dog just dies with me rather than die alone and unlove inside a cage in the vet clinic. while everyone is just watching tv nobody cares about the animal. Atleast here, they die in my house but they felt love untill their last dying breath. Same with humans they die alone and with strangers who doesn't care about them. I so not want to be a nurse or anything about medical, it is too depressing and frustrating it makes me sad. If i will work , i want a happy job. medicine is a very unhappy job. My cousins wife told me if you don't want to be misserable don't pursue nursing find something happy to do. She notice I am always sad and depress specially when i was with my aunt i always cry. She took up accountancy but later i was shocked she did not pursue it and she became dance instructor in canada lols 😂 she can't stand a boring job. she use to have problem with my aunt, my aunt doesn't like her lifestyle and her friends coz my aunt is conservative. I knew from the very beginning she will not be happy with accounting job. Anyways I so much don't want to be in anything medical it is so depressing, I don't like sick and dying infront of me it drains my life too. I want a happy job. and if ever nursing and medical is just a supportive thing, it's good to learn it and so you can use it from time to time when a family needs it but to actually be in that situation everyday is so sad and depressing. I took care of my grandma, my dad and it was too drianing for me. Now I am taking care of my old senior rescue dog, it makes me so sad. As much as I want to be happy and make her feel happy I still feel sadness and worry that one day i will lose her. My sister said you should accept that she is senior and will soon die and don't expect her to last for more years. My sister works in hospital she doesn't get affected with anything. But me I just can't stand it. Life is short it's better to be happy a little while I am still breathing. Now I am worried my aunt is 80's she will soon go and my grandmas sister is also very weak and old. I hate hospital, I hate disease, death, and all. I don't like funerals and everything sad. EVerytime I wake up I feel emptiness, everymorning I wake up I feel it even when I just nap for a while and wake up, I feel empty and sad.

The veterinarian I take my pets to will not interact with her customers directly. She uses her staff as intermediaries. So all questions & concerns must be relayed to her through them. Additionally, she and her staff are very dismissive of concerns I have about the medicine Apoquel that the Vet. prescribed for my dog. He's developed small lumps underneath his skin in the year He's been on it. The thing that keeps me returning is the reasonable prices she offers for Veterinarian services.
I would really like to take my dog off of the Apoquel, as I fear it's damaging him.
I believe you have helped so many people a lot more than any vet in a 🏫, building you have helped people who cannot afford to go and get some of the ridiculous things they offer you tell us what to do at home to help our vets and you help us with every question that we ask you you answer back I think you're need a reward for being one of the best veterinarians in the world God bless you! When my family was told they will kill our pet if we didn't pay up is when I started losing my trust in vets.
Long story short, our family dog needed emergency life saving treatment. They gave a pricy estimate that we were just able to afford and we obviously urged them to go into immediate surgery to save our dog's life. Surgery was pretty rough, apparently there were alot of problems that they had to deal with "on the fly". The end amount ended up being over double the already expensive procedure. It was over 15k when all was said and done. We were in shock but also glad our pup was going to be okay. We said we could pay the original cost upfront as originally estimated but the rest would have to be on a plan. They simply said if we do not pay in full immediately they will have no choice but to euthanize our dog. Their words not mine. We just collapsed in the waiting room freaking out and there were alot of other people there with their pets and everyone just immediately turned on the vet staff and a lot of shit went down. Blood drawn. People attacked the heartless demon that threatened to kill our dog that he LITERALLY JUST SAVED. They urged us home as police were called and said we would have to get back to them after this situation had been dealt with. When we went back they said due to the "incident" they would honour the original estimate and we could take our dog home when he was stable enough to leave.
Absolutely money driven no doubt. Not all vets but a large majority are in bed with the $ flow, animals welfare always takes the backseat when faced with profit loss statements.
Ignore them Dr Jones. you are playing the cards they want to see. your subscribers are telling you they believe in you so believe them.
I am fortunate to have a good Veterinarian, she doesn’t do things knowing that it’s probably not needed. She tells you! Not only that she doesn’t make you pay the outrageous cost that the big cities do. Thank God I live rural.

I say keep doing what you’re doing! Many of us support you! The bad apples don’t like being exposed. You are absolutely NOT in that category. I’ve been dealing with veterinarians for over 40 years. I’ve had really good vets. I’ve run across a few who should be in another line of work because it was very apparent money was the name of the game, not the best interest of the animal they should have been trying to treat. You can spot them pretty quickly if you know what to look for. They will start trying to convince you that your pet needs this test and that test and oh, there’s another one we should probably do just in case the other 5 tests we suggested don’t come up with anything. A good vet will be conservative in their approach to treatment and help you to understand the options and the results and not be offended by questions. If they are, walk.

I took my pet to numerous vets for surgery price estimates. One vet charged almost $2k more than other vets! The Dr said, "We offer a payment plan." That was a red flag. For the Dr to say that, he was well aware he was price gouging. He had dollar signs in his eyes. When I received a request for customer feedback, I wrote his prices were way too expensive.

Yes the young new Vet who examined my dog wanted to run a electrolyte test lol and then called me at home to tell me Vitamin C was not needed for him ….medical industry for humans and pets is corrupt

Doesn't take Dr. Andrew Jones to state the obvious. In my opinion of couse there are unscrupulous veterinary businesses who upsell as with any kind of businesse. Asking questions is a matter of right to gain education . Thank you Dr. Andrew Jones for educating us!
