  1. I admittedly fed my dog a mostly vegan diet when I was a vegan, for a couple years. I didn’t feel right completely cutting out meat for her but I did feed V-dog kibble as her main food. We tried every vegan dog food that is on the market and she really liked V-dog so that was what we stuck with until DCM concerns became a thing and spooked me into changing her diet. I feed her Ollie now, both the fresh food and baked.

  2. I home cook plant based meals for my 14 year old dog and she is super healthy for her age. We do a medical check up every year and never had a diet related issue. I think you should read the new studies and update your knowledge. I seriously expected more from you! I never give soy to my dog! My dog is 14 and has no obesity, arthritis, heart issues, diabetes or none of the causes of the death and most dogs. Old school vets and doctors always have a hard time with non traditional methods because they always go by what they were taught and that’s sad.

  3. both my Maltese do really well on a mix made from high protein pressed cottage cheese and organic tofu with added taurine and carnitine ,methionine .they gobble it up with a veggie plus vitamin mix from Dr Harveys (without added copper )
they both are prone to high liver enzymes
all symptoms of paw licking , horrible smelling poops , red beard stains , face rubbing excessive peeing, all went away as well
plus they have perfect blood test ta age 8 and 10.5
they run and play like puppies
i found the recipe in a natural health bible for cats and dogs
they both where previously on a fresh meat diet

  4. I just saw an advert for vegan dog food. Ive been vegetarian since i was around 4, Im 53 now. I was put off when I found out what meat was. But I wouldnt dream of enforcing my preferences onto my animals.
The advert first mentioned our pets 'carbon footprint', to play on our ethics, though not a mention of the carbon footprint from producing soy! Then they did a 'taste test' which could have been any old kibble…we just have their word it was their food, and anyway, a dog would usually choose a chocolate cake over meat, but we dont feed them that either.
Then they claimed it was endorsed by vets, and we all know that vets are being bribed with money to endorse all sorts of absurdness, from annual jabs, to vegan dog food.
nice one doc for being a voice of reason in a very mental world

  5. You're in the comments just agreeing with anyone who mentions animal-based dog food. Why not talk about how to properly structure a vegan dog food instead of just pointing out the challenges? Also, you're just talking about and dissing soy… how many better options for plant-protien are there? A lot. Super biased video.

  6. My dogs are on vegan diet with supplements and are doing very well. Of course one has to supplement their diet but many people use supplements for meat eating dogs too. My dog is 11 and has blood tests every year and the vet says that his results are excellent. Agree about soy, he got gerd from tofu. If dogs are like wolfs let them hunt for their food and don't cook meat with veggies for them 🙄 Dogs evolved just like us.

  7. I have a yorkiepoo puppy he ia 3 months old. I wanted to change his food from kibble to homemade, what would be the best transition? And should cooked meals out of the fridge be warmed up every time prior to eating? Thank you!!

  8. There are 62 videos on this play list re pet food. 3 of them are about cats. I cannot find a video on how to make cat food, only dog food. In fact, I cannot find much about cats at all. So please, many of us are cat owners and need help with our cats. Can you make more videos on cats? How about how to make cat food at home? I bought your supplement for cats a few times but the cats don't like it. I mix it in their cat food. I have a cat with ibs and a cat that had his teeth pulled out due to an autoimmune disease that attacks his mouth tissues. It didn't work. The teeth were pulled for nothing. I still have to give him the horrible tasting cyclosporine every night. I wish I never listened to that vet. She said it was the only way. My kitty's life took a big downturn since they took his teeth away.

  9. My dog eats what I eat! No processed, no sugar. This is my second fur pup, last one lived 19years no medical issues, just shots and dental cleaning. Ollievander is 7 years same and me 55 years healthy weight, cholesterol etc… difference I now take vitamins.

  10. Alpha Amylase is an enzyme that dogs have, used to break down carbohydrates. They have evolved to eat carbs. Compassion Circle is a brand that offers proper nutritional supplements and gives great recipes and support to get them healthy. We make our 2yr jack whippet mix a fresh lil green smoothie in the evening to add to her dish which usually has beans in it. VitC helps with iron absorption. Other than that she gets organic oats, organic TVP(dried soy crumbles), nooch, flax oil/ ground flax seed, and diatomaceous earth in her breakfast for worm/parasite prevention. PB for treat of course. She had a yeast problem when we adopted her 2yrs ago. It continued when transitioning to a vegan kibble. But 5 months into just homemade and she's as healthy as horse! We give her the One Degree organic Oats from Costco, which are as free from Roundup as it gets. I think it's at the root of most issues with health as it burns the gut and destroys your microbiome. It's taken me yrs to learn to be a healthy vegan myself so I can say from experience this isn't for everyone. If you're not willing to put in the work to do it right, don't bother. But honestly, I see a brighter future for my pup because of it.

  11. My dog is allergic to all meat protein and now she has urine infection, i started giving her vegetables with chick peas and i feel like it’s not enough for her please tell me what i should do about it i want my dog to be healthy

  12. When I was a vegan I fed my dogs a vegan diet. Not a good idea. They ended up with illnesses that I wasn't even aware of back then. Animal protein for our pets! Dr Jones, would you please talk about CLEAN MEAT? Lab grown meat. I would love to "chuck the meat" and still give my dogs a meat based diet, BUT the cattle industry is causing irreparable harm to our planet. It's so cruel to all the animals in the AG biz, whether cow, chicken, pig, or any other "meat" raised animal. The conditions they are subjected to is horrid, feed lots, crowded, they are sick and in pain. They are just a commodity and their treatment is cruel and unsustainable. There's got to be a better way.

  13. My dog LOVES pistachio nuts and will do anything for them…I shell them first but if she can get to the shell she will eat them too…are pistachios ok for dogs?
It's the only nuts she will eat!

  14. I fully agree. I'm vegan but I shifted to being pesca-vegan so I can share the fish with my cat. Their physiology is not designed for a herbivore diet. I suspect that even the soy, lentil, or chickpea extenders in pet food might give them arthritis.
