Weighing the water!! Light bulb goes on. Like many people I was judging water by volume, and while I am trying to be as exact as possible with roasting beans, weighing, and grinding, I still get varying results. Like 99% of people, at 7 am who is exacting enough to eyeball a measuring cup for a pour-over brew? But using the same electronic readout scale shown here, it'll be much easier. Weigh the water, weigh the coffee grounds, take notes on what clicks and what doesn't. Obvious, but never thought of.
