  1. I dont think dogfish head gets the respect they deserve in the beer community. I have not disliked any beer they created. Their campfire amplifier is the most creative beer I have ever had. I love it. The Hazy O is my new favorite beer. The slightly mighty is a wonderful light ipa. 60 90 and 120 ipa are legendary. Sea quench is the only beer I drink on the beach.

  2. Reinheitsgebot is just a fairytale germans like to pride themselves in, bc they think of themselves being “ The beer nation”. The truth now, is just that they get rather lied by the big industry. The mindset is changing slowly but it’s changing

  3. Fuck yeah, I also have a college degree and no high school diploma. And I also enjoy brewing, though I can't say that I can do it to Sam Calagione's level.

  4. Yeaaaa….I stopped drinking Dogfish a while ago. Just too much going in in their beer nowadays. I'll stick to Hill Farmstead, Treehouse, Trillium, Bissel Bros. Maine Beer Co., Alchemist, Lawson's, Tired Hands, Kane, Carton, Grimm, Other Half, Finnback, Sixpoint, the Vail, Pipeworks, Half Acre, Wicked Weed, Cascade, Cantillion, ….etc

  5. The Reinheitsgebot is a milestone in world history and made beer what it is today for a lot of reasons but it just not translating in today's times.

Because of it the beer makers in Germany has reduced their competition to price and image. There is very little difference in taste and variety, the only deciding point is the lower price and if that particular brand speaks to people from a certain region.

What this has done is drive beer quality to a stable but also taste and variety. Basically it's all the same crap that has good enough quality and recipe for a mass product but nothing else going on for it. People aren't willing to pay more for beer, everybody is just looking at the price point.

This means there is very little space for small breweries. No place for experiments, no chance of a bigger, more complex experiment and development of different things.

Ironically Americans, the people with the shittiest beer of all times have now taken the lead.

  6. The reinheitsgebot law only applies to bottom fermented beer. However pork in beer. Really? American C Hops popular with homebrewers but rarely found in pub beer here in England.
