  1. i found that LIT foods often have lentils and peas. i chose a different route. i got some ultra nutro small breed weight management food. it is reasonably priced, has three types of protein, and has wholesome food like oats in it. no peas, no lentils, and no corn or wheat. i used to cook for my other chi. he lived 23 years. when they found a lot of contaminates in dog foods and other dogs in our area were dying of kidney failure, the vet told me i probably saved his life by cooking for him

  2. Hello.
Ive just binged, on just about every & anything I could find on your channel, about food for our beloved pets… made by us "hoomans at home".
I'm in Australia, there's no regulation here on pet food either. So basically, people like me, we try to educate ourselves & use our common sense.
    I have a 14.5yr old English Pointer.
He's been a wonderful friend & family member, but he's now very old and my main aim is to keep him comfortable.
The vet tells me he has a heart problem, inflammation around his heart.
She also tells me he wouldn't survive the sedation he requires, just to explore exactly what it is & can it be drained/removed (ie. A liquid sack or a growth)…
Let alone, survive the anaesthetic required to do either procedure. (Skittles is now also blind & largely deaf, he gets nervous in different surroundings, i.e. the vets, & the different vets there. That's why they need to sedate him, just for the exploratory xray/cat scan.)
After all of that, they can't guarantee that "it will fix him", & won't return within a couple of weeks.

She also informed me that he doesn't seem to be in any pain. So that's good.
I can see in his face, he's calm, & although is sometimes of laboured breath, he's still happy he's here.
Make no mistake, my big ol dopey, baby boy, has never caused me any pain – and I would never willingly, selfishly or otherwise, cause my baby to be in any unnecessary, unstoppable pain. I just wanted to make that clear. He's here because he still wants to be, I can see and watch it in his day to day character. (God, now my eyes are stinging! Anyway, on with my question…)
Here's the main question I have. Hopefully, I'll also be able to get some confirmation from you too?

I buy the soup bones from the butchers and boil the meat off of them. I figure he gets the meat & bonus bone broth as gravy, gotta be a winner?
Then I cook up some peas, cauli leaves, broccoli & a carrot. And mix that all in. I took your advice and mashed up a multivitamin.
I also put in finely chopped rosemary & basil & some turmeric – all for anti inflammatory properties.

I just want to know I'm doing the right thing…
Oh, and on the blood tests that the vet did, she said he had really early onset of kidney disease, and was surprised that it wasn't much worse?! (Also, that was the reason she couldn't put him on anti inflammatory medication?)
Everything else was apparently all good.
I just want him to be comfortable, I know I could wake up any morning now, & he not be here. I just want to know I did all I could to not aggravate what was going on, while he's here.
Oh, and thank you for all the natural lessons I learnt today, and that I'm going to learn. I can see I've got a few years of playing catch up. I'm sorry about Lewis, at least he had an amazing life! He would have been thankful for that. 😍❤❤❤❤

  3. For a long time I thought that I couldn’t afford to cook for my dog, yet I was spending a small fortune on “high end” limited ingredient kibble ! After a little researching I started cooking very easy, healthy meals for my dog and adding in Dr Jones supplement and I am not spending as much as I was on kibble and my dog is doing so well and is loving home cooked! I cook up enough for a week at a time so it isn’t as time consuming as I thought it would be! Thank you, Dr Jones for your canine supplement—it is feels good to be able to trust in what I am feeding my dog. 🙂

  4. Can you please give me some advice! My dog is coughing so hard he yelps in pain! We took him to the vet and they said there was “nothing wrong” and I’m sure somethings wrong if he’s yelping in pain.

  5. My lab, Marley, has major issues with dog food. He pukes up almost every kibble on the market! I ended up cooking for him every single day. I found a couple canned foods he will eat on occasion, but he is soooooooo picky! My other lab is like a dumpster and eats anything she thinks might be edible. Marley turns up his nose at perfectly good dogfood though. I put Taste of the Wild in his bowl in case he wants to nibble through the day, and Taste of the Wild is the only kibble he can handle in small quantities. I like him to have food in front of him at all times, and sometimes he does actually take a bite or two of the kibble. He mostly only wants me to cook him chicken or beef and mix his meat with rice and vegetables. He does also like quinoa or oatmeal sometimes, but mostly he prefers rice. Oh, and he will eat pancakes if I am making the kids some pancakes (he always gets a blueberry pancake). He LOVES blueberries!

  6. Thanks Dr. Jones. I switched our pit bull to a completely raw diet and veggies. I get an all natural beef roll 5 lbs. Has beef , heart , liver, lung , kidney , bone , and tripe in it . He's doing amazing. Oh and your Advanced Canine supplement too. His coat is super shiny , no more itching , no more bumps on his nose or itchy paws.. With the wet spring we're having he hasn't broke out yet.

  7. My dogs absolutely LOVE curcumin. Thank you. And, by the way, so do we. It is great in country stew! I am more and more reading the ingredients and still trusting less and less bc my dogs are doing better on my fresh preparation along with certain kibbles, which are at this time grain free, especially I am not buying the OLD food. Check the expiration dates and remember as Doc. Jones reminds us that the preservatives are in our food and our pet's food to keep it on the shelf for two or three years. No thanks. Thanks, Dr. Jones.

  8. Wonderful video Dr. Jones. Dog food, kibble and canned dog food is so bad. Some dogs that have red or brown coats change color over time from eating dog food. In the past 15 years I've watched my red Poodles turn apricot. My little red toy 🐩 Poodle who has been eating the raw diet is still RED. I'm so glad to finally keep the red color they were born with. The raw diet is by far the best. Dog food started 100 years ago.

  9. Years ago we went to holistic vet who gave us a diet that we still use on our dogs today. It was beef liver or boiled chicken (we occasionally substitute with fish) with sweet potato( low glycemic index, beta carotene, b-complex,vitamin c, potassium, etc.) peas and carrots.+ digestive enzymes, multi vitamin supplement. Our dogs are very healthy. One is 17 years old and still going strong.

  10. Blue Buffalo dog food fooled me with their "limited ingredients." When I googled it I found out about their numerous recalls and their fudging about their pure ingredients. Although my dogs don't have food allergies I don't give that food anymore.

  11. Great info Doctor Jones thanks, speaking of tasting out foods 👀it’s so complicated and expensive. I have tried them all because my dog had allergy to chicken by product and lamb so am doing Duck and potatoes and it doing great.

I tried ordering some supplements from Dr Jones and failed every time am I doing something wrong? I couldn’t even get my free book.

  12. my sons dog duke had a Allergy to his dog food chicken and and beef so he put him on a fish food dog food that helped him and now he is on lamb cause he is sick of the fish flavour and he seems to be doing good

  13. Thank you for always passing along what you learn/find. I have found a wonderful food that is freeze dried, organic, and clearly limited ingredient. It has been a blessing. If interested, it's Dr. Harvey's. They have an online presence.

  14. I have one 8 year old Chihuahua 5 lb who had severe pancreatitis and she is on Royal Canin en can food. My other one who has for the four years I've had her, by the way they're both rescues, can't seem to tolerate any fats it's like she has IBS. She had an ultrasound at the specialty vet after a bout of diarrhea and vomiting blood all her Labs came back fine the only thing the ultrasound showed was she has a very thin troubling colon wall. She does well as long as I cook her food fresh at no fats, but she got into the the Royal Canin EN Veterinary prescription dog food canned, and every time she does,, it's funky diarrhea the next day. There's something in that dog food that her little digestive system cannot tolerate. I wish there was a food that I could just feed her and she would be fine but this is been going on for 4 years. So I guess it's just me making her food for the rest of her life. Very frustrating.
