People wanted to move away from wheat as all in non organic food the wheat is GMO and destroys the body and a person/dog becomes gluten intolerant. Dog food industry will make up crap all day long against anything good. Look at their study. When they did the test of garlic on dogs and said you couldn't use garlic on dogs, here's what their study did: they used four dogs in the study and gave them 20 cloves of garlic a day for so many days. They said it affected the blood and yet they didn't do blood tests on the dogs to determine anything. They end up stating that it May be a problem for dogs. So why do a study if you don't take tests to determine your study?
Organs, muscle meat, fat, and bones. HARD STOP. Kibble (even grain-free), should be used in a "pinch", or perhaps when traveling or boarding. Kibble is the equivalent of eating cereal or meal replacement bars. Grain-free kibble is great for occasional convenience purposes. Do right by your dogs + cats, and feed raw food (animal parts). Don't let anyone BS you otherwise…
My dogs and I are victims of a puppy mill… I have had my 2 other dogs kidnapped… 1st, from our back yard ( Beni Benat; 2 yrs ago this month; July… they took my healthy Beni and swapped him for whom I named Tedi Benat ( Benat means "Bear" in the Basque language; so he is my tedi bear) who they no doubt thought would be dead in 24 hrs as he was suffering from a severe angina and asthma attacks… and I found out later; grand mal seizures… Well, he didn't die; because I have God on my side; and I also have arrythmia; and I grew up with a sister with severe asthma, so I knew what to do… a year later; this coming august; they stoled Tedi right out of my laundry room, and swapped him for my Bere Argidere Benat ( It means " Her beautiful light bear"; who had a microchip dan-gerously close to his heart ( sorry; but I do not stick blue-tooth stalking nano-computers in my pets….) so, I turned it off; and got it out of him… and he has severe yeast infections; and demodex… He no doubt was raised on the junkiest kibble avaiable ( puppy mills care nothing about their victims… In fact, I believe they actually enjoy the torture these poor animals go through) …Doggy jUNK FOOD THAT IS ALL- GRAINS AND LITTLE TO NO ACTUAL MEAT… so, now He is on the best kibble I could find, and I cook him human grade meats; mostly organ meats; and veggies; as I've done with all my boys… I think I've come up with a winner tea concoction and oils blend that is clearing up the skin issues; however; I am still trying to find the right thing to take care of the inside inflamation.. of course by now this is systemic..I approach feeding my animals by what they show me they actually eat… dogs don't eat the fruits of the plants; they eat the vegetation of the fruiting plants… they don't eat so much the veggies; they eat the leaves and stems ( although, my dogs love pea pods too… dogs don't eat solanum ; so they don't eat potatoes, or tomatoes, and never egg plant as it is poisonous to them… Let a dog loose in your ripened garden, and they will show you how to feed them… they like composite flowers… like daisies and mums… which is what natural pyrethrum is from… Dr Jones; you can't imagine how much help your videos have been in this struggle… Your honest real-life approach to these topics are life-saving and life-giving. God bless you and yours; and Tula, and Murray… and I hope your channel grows exponentially!!! We need you out here!
I use your recipes, cooked chicken, turkey, liver, beef, brown rice, carrots and sweet potato. 1/2 cup of kibble by nulo, 1 cup cooked twice a day, new rescues. Labs. I hope I'm doing the right thing. Also your supplement 😊
What would be a good diet for a 3 year old male husky decently diagnosed with IMHA 3 weeks ago. I'm assuming low carb and high in red protein? His bloodwork today shows he went from 33 to 40 (where the vet wants him at) and she left him on prednisone daily. Any input would be wonderful!
We’re feeding our Rottweiler Acana. She’s doing really well on it. Her bowel movements are never runny. I’ve seen a dog on Science Diet and his bowel movements look like pudding.
I would not feed a dog sweet potatoes, spinach, or other foods that are "high in oxalates, which can contribute to the formulation of Calcium Oxalate Stones!" UNLESS I had regular UA on my dogs that would show no struvites or stones! I was feeding one of the best dog foods or so I thought after years of researching what goes into commercial pet foods what I was feeding was the only one I trusted. I knew from research spinach was a red flag but my dog didn't/doesn't have Calcium Oxalate Stones so I thought it was okay to feed this dog food with spinach since it had nothing else in it that I wouldn't feed my dog. Well, after a few UA showing struvites and a couple of vets telling me it was not a good diet for my dog stopped it and just started feeding homemade. My last dog that I am still so sad over her passing at 14 1/2 years old having her since she was 11 weeks old she had struvites as a puppy but after I changed to homemade she didn't have struvites anymore for 12 years. I was just hoping I finally found a dog food I approved of for my new dog where I wouldn't have to do homemade again but turns out I am back to doing homemade. There is so much confusing information it really makes it hard to know which information is the right ones. Thanks for caring about our fur babies 🐶💖😊
Dr. Jones, so if you make a habit of feeding Tuli one home meal per week and one raw meal per week, what does Tuli eat the other 5 days a week? twice a day? kibbles from Instinct only? thank you sir
I have to have a grain free diet due to my little mini dashie being a chronic colitis sufferer, she has many allergies to foods such as most grains ,eggs , soy, preservatives , some thickners ,she cant eat raw meats or raw veggies ,I give her kibble grain free for breakfast and home cooked meats /fish and veggies for dinner ..I use coconut oil, olive oil added to the diet too .
Help. WhT food is good for a dog to loose wait. My Pomeranian needs to loose wait she has problem to walk because overweight . right now she eats dry food. Natural balance fish n sweet potato
Thank you Dr. Jones! I don't watch much TV. When I want to get entertained…..AND EDUCATED…I come here to your page. You have generously offered a wealth of information which is freely available to anyone interested in learning how to best take care of their pets. God bless you! Both you and your doggies are adorable!!
Thanks Dr. though maybe look into raw meat diets all the way, you're kind of dancing around that conclusion. 😂 There is plenty proof this garbage food destroys our animals' bodies causing all kinds of genetic and metabolic disorders. Been feeding my cats raw meat/organs/bone washed in vinegar and frozen in portions for almost 5 yrs. No health problems, silky fur, white teeth, no smelly poop, great muscle definition. It's the best thing for a carnivorous cat, even better if you feed prey like mice. We cannot do better than nature and the animals' body will tell you. I wish vets would just admit this and get out of bed from the petfood corporations (not saying you are, I'm glad you aknowledge the problems). Cats are carnivorous, it means they eat meat and dogs to a slightly lesser degree. We would never feed tigers or wolves the nonsense we feed our companions, they deserve better. All the petfood is processed crap, even the "healthy" brands, make it yourself. No more animals have to die of cancer or diabetes. It's completely avoidable.
If vets worry about loosing income if our pets are healthier, diversify and study pet nutrition and preventative care. You will absolutely have my business. You can market and sell balanced frozen meat/organ/bone food packs for dogs and cats, no chemicals or additives. Frozen is best way to preserve. I'd totally buy from your office. I make it myself but sometimes I'm lazy and want to buy it off others if I can 😂
Best and cleanest foods are the meals you make yourself. I refuse to feed raw meats though. But my 'kids' eat low carb vegetables with organic bison, once a week wild halibut. Raw fruits and vegetables as snacks. They drink dandelion water.
Ive been feeding my 10 month sharpei pup grain free only because the breeders i got him from recommended it because sharpei have so many allergies and grain is one of them. He was on wellness core grain free puppy they weren't one of the many companys being flagged for the heart disease issues with the grain free. It wasn't until after 3 ear infections i asked the breeder abd he said it was chicken and Turkey in the food causesing it so i have him on Nutrience grain free Ocean dog kibble it is made in Canada and has no reports of the food causesing heart disease. Ive had him on the new food for about 2 and half months and no ear infection yet. It contains coconut oil as one of the ingredients so i don't know if that is in part helping the situation
My 2nd vid & I'm Addicted!! Do u have current links/recommendations regarding high quality, canned cat food Brands? I'm starting your recommendations & hoping to treat my RepoPiggyPuppy 😺 for diabetes. I'm a senior with limited income so this is my only option. I can't thank you enough for all your vids/info and help😻
Hello doctor… I thought kibble/can food was bad for dogs. Why aren’t you sticking to just homemade or raw? You make it sound that feeding them kibble sometimes is not that bad..?
People are fool…they get suckered to buy all kind of food at high prices….food are made with canola, corn meal, fish meal, meat meal from Asia, etc….meal is like they take anything that is dead and pass it through a grinder, flesh and bone and grind it and boil it, preserve it then send it to company who makes pellet….hey make their own mix with really not telling the real.info to customer…dog food is billion of dollar industry….if you want real.food grab your rifle and go get your self a.moose, fish, raise chicken, etc….again people are fool…once I Google.one of the company and ask my wife where is this food come from….she said from there on the packaging…so I Google the manufacturing address to find that it was a shopping mall in another province….lol…wolf in the wild can go days, to week, to month without eating a decent meal
When my dog eats dog food with grain she will poop six or seven times a day. Grain free ,all meat food only pooping 1-2 a day. Grain free for our family.
What diet should half siamese blk ghost tabby who has pica and food allergies eat? This cat is also a picky eater, refuses to eat any can cat food other than chicken pate but sometimes throws up, has diarrhea, gets allergy bumps (miliary dermatitis), also has bad gas with cat treats. Cat was checked out at vets, all test came back normal (no fleas also), vet said food allergies(grass/weeds allergies too). Mostly insider with supervised visits to a fenced in backyard. Cat loves human grade plain cooked chicken & plain pulled pork with no issues. Loves his grain free dry food Farmers Market.
Bless you for your heart and integrity. And I am in agreement with you and have subscribed to your channel and will highly recommend your channel to my fur pet caregivers. Keep up your good work. And thank you.

My vet discouraged grain free because of DCM
My Shetland sheepdog gets horrible diarrhea when ever I try adding wet food or raw. One teaspoon will do her in.
My first dog lived 16 years on the cheapest dog food available. That was before GMO corn though.

So when you shop for kibble, there isn't anything specific that you stay away from? Or anything specific that you look for?
Great videos!
