  1. Not sure if it’s available in your country but we have put our golden back onto frozen raw food pre made K9 naturals. When we took our boy off it and onto a vet prescribed kibble because of covid and not always being able to source the food our boy ballooned and has now got severe hot spots. He’s back onto the raw food but unfortunately his skin is so bad he had to have a full body shave for treatment and has to take a long course of antibiotics. I’ve got some doggy probiotics and am curious to know if the refrigerated ones for human kids might also benefit a dog or would these be the wrong mix of good bugs. Thank you for your eye opening videos. I love how many of the kibble companies here put “chicken byproduct” on the ingredients too … every animal is different I know but our boy even has split nails so he’s totally out of whack. I went to our local farm supply store and there you can get flax seed oil in larger bottles suitable for horses so this is what we’re now also supplementing him with. Can human vitamins help an animal too? Thank you

  2. Homemade food is the only way! My dogs are NEVER sick, no hips problems, no cancer, no dental problems at all….nothing. They die of old age feelings and looking like if they were 2. If you didn't know any better like many of us, and fed your dog kibbles for years your dog probably has a gum infection from chewing all that starch. That infection is keeping him/her unhealthy and unable to fight off other problems. In my opinion your best bet is to have the vet remove the teeth and eliminate the source of infection.

  3. Thank you for sharing this with us about pet foods. I watched your videos relating to pet foods. I have a kitten. She is now 5 months old. My kitten ate Acana kitten dry food. I am struggling with wet food like Instinct kitten canned food (gray pate) and Wellness kitten canned food. She is not really crazy about these foods. I sometimes give her "Iams" canned food because she really likes it. Is there any different healthy foods I hope she would like to eat? Kitten canned foods have limited options for each brand.

  4. Thank you sooooo much! ….you are the best vet we have ever had. I so appreciate all your tips for the yeasty dog. Our cocker spaniel is very yeasty and I am giving it all a try this evening and staying w it. Thank you very much, Dr. Jones!

  5. Hi to Tula! Thanks Dr Jones @VeterinarySecrets I've started making my own to avoid all this deception. I'm looking for a recipe to make it in tubes to store and cut off what I need. Easier to store but wanna know what the dogs are eating. I'll definitely be emailing about this misleading information.

  6. Since COVID dog food has changed. I use a Lamb and rice formula that WAS good for my dogs until about 6 months ago. Now they're vomiting, gaining weight, and poops look different. I've started making their own food with supplements you suggest and the problems disappeared. The lack of feed and ingredients due to manufacturing problems, I believe they've skipped and changed their formula without changing the labels.

  7. Ever since finding this channel along with a pet nutritionist here on yt I’ve learned sooo much. We have a 11 mo old heeler who had serve dry skin. After switching do in food brands we found something that works for him. We want to see raw when we can afford it but due to his skin fishy specifically salmon has done wonders. We go give fresh veggies and fruit. Always dog safe ! 🤞🏻

  8. I use a dehydrated food (The Honest Kitchen) and add water before serving. Does this mean the same for dehydrated food labels? I'm concerned that I am feeding my dog a lower nutritional food than I thought. This whole thing makes me so mad.

  9. I buy beef mince and I don't feed my dog hard feed biscuits because I feel its just rubbish.
Definitely way too high in carbohydrate and grains bad for sugar spikes can cause diabetes in dogs and cats.

  10. I ditto the comments of appreciation to you for your candid honesty Dr Jones… You are a myth buster that we pet parents all need to pay attention to. I had no idea that this industry is so lax. With knowledge comes power, so the more who know about this, the more pressure is put upon the industry to act. Just a simple note to your legislatures and the pet food industry is a positive step that we can all take.

  11. Thank you for all the valuable information you've shared! Every pet owner should be made aware of this. Long ago, I decided to give my dogs REAL protein by cooking their meals. Chicken, Turkey, or Beef is the main ingredient, followed by most of the ingredients you've shown us in your recipes. I feel better knowing they're getting quality ingredients. They're my family members and I would never feed my family kibble or some canned product that isn't regulated. Thank you for everything you do!!!

  12. It is so misleading the way these companies have done business with the consumers. I just get frustrated trying to figure it all out. Thanks for educating us on this. You cut out all the BS. That is exactly what we need!!

  13. because of deception like that is why processed food is not my dogs main diet and only a supplement. he eats home made real meat or eggs or canned fish every few days. he is a very healthy 11 year old with no major illness.

  14. Kibbles are all processed food with added artificial/synthetic vitamins and minerals. There's nothing nutritious for your pets. It's prbably why most dogs end up getting sick, unhealthy and requiring vet treatments. Best way to keep your pets healthy and save on vet bills is to give them fresh homecooked food everyday. If you can't eat dried foods everyday to stay healthy, then why would do you feed your pets dried processed food?

  15. And so justification on why we need to make our own dogfood. So we know what they are eating and thats iffy too because we dont really know what we are eating either unless we grow it ourselves.

  16. Sir, I can not thank you enough for all of the information that you freely share here on yt with us! I hope you get this message. My daughter's german shepherd was recently diagnosed with cancer. He had a tumor removed from his chest and they have put him on an all natural diet with added tumeric and cbd per research we've done online. Now he is breathing funny and was diagnosed today with a lung infection that the vet says comes from the dirt outside and normally only outdoor dogs get it. He is an indoor dog for over a year now, was an outdoor dog for a few years. They also took blood and urine to be sure it's not the cancer spread to the lungs? and have put him on a really strong antibiotic. If he was your dog would there be any natural antibiotics you would give him as well? Anything to boost his immune system? He is only 6 yrs old and we are heartbroken thinking we may lose him! 🙁 I appreciate any feedback!

  17. As Terri Eplen-Kleen writes I give my 8 Mastiff dogs Raw food. They are much happier and satisfied with raw food then with dry food. It is also much easier to clean the garden from dog poop when they eat raw food.

  18. Hi Dr Jones I really appreciate you very much for all you do for our furry friends. The FDA is not looking out for our best interest. They are all about profit profit profit. They don't care about us. But I do care about you helping us take care of our pets. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

  19. Please develop a recipe for a basic pet food. Then a formula for dogs needed nutrition and a formula for the nutrition a cat needs. Since the pandemic most of us have to work in the kitchen full time without any relief from all of the rest of jobs we need to get done😐

  20. I had NO idea that there was no regulation in place. I am truly grateful for ALL your knowledge. I am beginning to agree with homemade food, ie your recipe is the way to go. Myself and my furbabies THANK YOU 😊
