  1. Dear Dr. Jones, I have once read somewhere that Slippery Elm could cause potential liver issue. Do you have any personal experience with it and would you recommend to feed this daily or only short-term due to the potential liver issue? Please let me know. Thanks so much!

  2. I've been using slippery elm for my westie for years when he had very bad diarrhea. In 2 or 3 days giving him slippery elms 2xs a day worked. He also had kidney issues. I did not know you can use it for this.

  3. You have literally given my beautiful baby male (7year old) cat some relief and comfort! I cannot thank you enough. He is suffering from stage 4 kidney disease. When he was first diagnosed His prognosis was very critical as we missed his signs as fussiness. We now have him from EPO to DPO, 3x a week subcutaneous fluids, Semintra, Avanti, omega 3, slippery elm. (when we started it was EPO, pain meds, prednisone, Semintra, and Avanti. He started to build the red blood cells from 11 RBC to 30 and is maintaining them. I started to watch your video on the food he should eat and supplements to aid in his kidney disease. The vet we currently took him to was new to the EPO AND THEN LATER DPO. He is recently diagnosed and his transformation is heartwarming to see. I would love to see more videos on this condition. In the last 3 days, he is eating and eating once we started the slippery elm!!!!! Your a wonderful Veterinarian♥

  4. Our 13 year old cat was diagnosed with jaundice today when we took him to the vet. Hoping this stuff will help him live a few more years, and get him back to eating/drinking normally again. Been crying all day over it since he's a lovable lap cat who'd say on my lap for hours while I'm at my computer. Thanks for this video, and information!

  5. Confused: If Slippery Elm is the natural answer to the pharmaceutical Pepcid, why would you have to worry about WHEN you give a Pepcid, and WHEN you give Slippery Elm? Wouldn’t you only USE ONE of these? Period? ❤️Thank you so much!❤️ (I have an 8 lb, 12 year old feline with early renal disease)

  6. Do you have a video on cat urinary crystals? Is there something other than Royal Canine So? Our cat became DM on it. Then We went to glycobalance SO and he completely blocked again 😢

  7. My older orange tabby male cat has been coughing chronically for about 5 years. It sounds like a wet cough & he gets several coughing fits throughout the day. I fixed his diabetes & neuropathy by giving him B-12 & switching to wet food only. So hopefully this will help his chronic cough. Thank you!

  8. What about those recipes that day put 1 cup water with 1.5 tsp of slippery? That dosage isn't the same as if you put 1/8 tsp with a syringe of water right? My ckd kitty doesn't like it on her food but when I mix it with the 1 cup water on the stove it doesn't seem to work as well as me making up an individual batch each time. How much water should you add to 1/8 tsp?

  9. Hi Dr. Jones, thank you for your kind advise, one question please, Dies slippery Elm also helps to heal kidney diseases, or is it for their tummy? have a friend with a little Chihuahua and her doggie has kidney disease?
    Thank you.

  10. I just found your channel and I love it!!! I only own one cat but I’m a member of a cat rescue team in my area. We use a couple great vets for catch spay release. But we’ve had our share of extreme incompetence and outright malpractice I think. Our most recent was Patent. She was such a trooper and had suffered from kidney disease for over 1 year. She was being given fluids every day and was doing fine. Her regular vet wasn’t available went to new vet. She was dead 1 hour after picking her up. They gave her an enema without authorization. She seizured for 1 hour, body hard as s rock then died. I’ve never seen anything sadder. I’ve lost my faith in vets and looking for more natural options. Thanks for great channel

  11. My cat fought me like a great white shark and was hurting herself while I tried the water and capsule powder mixture with syringe. OMG! So stressed. I see some people mix different ways…How can I get into cats mouth without a syringe of water? Do I use hot water or cold water? I'm desperate….Thanks!

  12. Hi, bandit the
Cat had blood work done . An XRAYS shows nothing.?
No blockage an blood work came back go?
Butt his liver emzes are low. Dr. Had no clue. An now
Hes choughing . I'm going to see about the slippery
Elm. I love your book if it's for Cats thanks

  13. Thank you for the very illustrative video, Dr. One question, though, can the Slippery Elm Syrup be prepared beforehand and kept in the fridge or room temperature, or must it be prepared each time before feeding it?

  14. I have been following you for a long time and now I personally need your help. I have a 4 year old cocker spaniel. He just recently suffered withdrawal from predinsone. He is feeling better now, but now his urine is clear and odorless. He appears to feel well, gums are pink and he is eating and drinking. Eating is somewhat decreased though.

  15. Hi doctor, can you do a video on hyperthyroidism in cats please? My cat got the radioactive iodine treatment about five years ago, but his T4 is high again. Any suggestions?

  16. Can slippery elm be used if a 9 lb cat is on pepcid twice a day? Just at a different time? And can I just mix up a small 1/8 – 1/4 teaspoon? Or if I do a tiny batch, does it need to refrigerate?

  17. Thank you so much for this info. I have been looking for something else to help my cat with constipation that is the stool softer meds that would dehydrate my cat. I can’t wait to try it!

  18. Would slippery elm be safe for my cat who has feline leukemia and has glaucoma in one eye requiring drops? Also in another video you did on cats with kidney disease I think you have said canned cat food is desirable for cats with kidney disease that contains under 10% protein. One of the foods my vet recommendeds for my cat is HIlls Prescription Diet but the percent of protein in it is listed as 30% after the moisture is removed. I have been feeding my cat Wellness Boneless Chicken and Turkey Entree in Sauce which lists crude protein at 6%. I'm confused why they are saying 30% protein. Did I hear you incorrectly when you said under 10% protein or does it make any difference that the protein is listed as "after the water is removed" or as "crude protein?" I don't like the foods my vet has prescribed for my cat because they are not organic and contain meat-by-products and am trying to find an alternative that is organic and preferably does not require a lot of work to prepare.

  19. I use powder for my cats and buy in lozenge form for me. When I get into too much dust or around too much perfume and the resulting post nasal drip keeps me up at night, chewing and sucking on them is the only thing to alleviate it enough to get to sleep. So, it’s not just for the pets!

  20. 😔😔 I tried the slippery elm and my dogs are still coughing. 😞😞 Now the dr wants to do a full xray and an EKG and a Sonogram and send it to a Specialist which I was told will cost me $500.00.. I wished I knew what to so. I have now spent over $700 and still nothing has worked for the caughing…

  21. With all meds , including gabenpentin, predisone, would you think this is safe if given at 2 hour windows? He tried honey and a cough pill, it has help but she still has, Thank you.

  22. Wow, this could not have come at a better time! I have a cat that has a kidney infection, and the vet did nothing for him. I shall go and look for some slippery elm.thank you for giving me some hope.

  23. I wasn't sure what video would have been best to ask this question but I wasn't sure if there is anything I can do for my year old Shar Pei pup I noticed several bumps on legs and hips I'm sure its from mosquito bites . Is there anything I can do for him until I can get to vet for deworming? I tried to see if you had a video for mosquito bite treatment for dogs but I couldn't find anything. I wasn't sure if something like after bite would be okay to use or be effective
