  1. My vet prescribed Chloramphenicol for my dog a few months ago in response to a culture for a UTI showing three bacteria that were all sensitive to it. But, writing the Rx was the easy part: It was VERY tough to get, as its apparently not used that much anymore. No local pharmacies or suppliers had it. I had to search all over, and after hours of calling found two compounding pharmacies that could provide it – one of which had the ingredients on hand and was able to supply it within about 48 hours. In addition, there were a lot of handling warnings – it can be harmful to humans and demands very careful handling, gloves, etc. Then after eight days out of a ten-day course, my senior German Shepherd had a sudden worsening of her pre-existing rear end weakness – which we later read is a known potential side effect of this drug in certain large breeds. I'm not saying not to use this – but just be aware going in, and be careful handling it.

  2. My dog is 10 years old. She recently started to lose a lot of weight. We moved recently. So I don't know if it was the drastic change … or something I should worry about. She is still playing and happy and acts completely normal. She just looks like she lost 7lbs in 3 months. She does have an appointment on Wednesday. Anything I can do to help her gain weight ?

  3. Thanks so much for this info. There is something I do not understand, however. How can this be an unknown illness?? Are there not ways to determine what virus or bacteria is present? Can’t there be cultures taken? It seems impossible that this illness has spread to this extreme and nobody knows what it is yet. Hard to believe.

  4. A FRIEND OF MINE HAS A NEIGHBOR WHOSE DOG DIED FROM THIS..HE THINKS IT IS IN FOOD..BECAUSE THE ONE DOG THAT DIDNT FET IT OR DIE WAS ON A SPECIAL HOMMADE DIET..THE DOG THAT GOT IT AND DIED WAS EATING MARKET DRY FOOD

  5. Just dont take ypur dogs around other dogs. Its contagious and keeping your dogs away will keep them safe. Unless you have an emergency and need to go to a vet. Keep them home.

  7. Dr Jones I love your channel and I recommend your channel to many others 👍I have used some of your suggestions that worked…so grateful 😊I have an 11 year old pug and I think he may have contracted this bug…it lasted in low symptoms for about a month in September into October….I religiously give him Olive Leaf in his food, also Turmeric and Black Seed oil..which I also rub on his nose and put in his food..along with eggs and blue green algae, added with his diet…He’s rarely sick and he has beautiful clear eyes and the softest fur..just sharing maybe it might help someone else….PS…I also use the herbs and Black Seed oil, too everyday and rarely am ill….God Bless you and your information is a blessing🙏🏻💕

  9. Re: Colloidal silver

1 – Some brands are little more than extremely overpriced bottled water, so try to get a reputable brand that actually puts enough silver in the solution
2 – Google “argyria” or “colloidal silver skin discoloration” before administering it to anyone long-term (especially a human)

I actually met an elderly gentleman who had argyria. It looked like someone had painted his nose with wet graphite; his skin even had a slight metallic sheen.
