  1. What a pleasant surprise to see Jay So featured on Munchies! I've tried to make it a habit of eating there everytime I visit Bangkok. The folks here are always so welcoming of tourists; even during the hectic office lunch hours! On my way out, Jay So always seems happy to ask about my meal/answer questions I have about how they prepare certain dishes 😁. My larb and moo yang are far off the mark… but I'll get the flavour nailed down… one day… hopefully 😂😂

  2. Not a friendly place. You can see the owner and her husband being so smiley and welcoming when watching Mark Wiens video or this Munchies review on YouTube. When you come as a normal visitor – there is no hint of a smile or welcome, rather rude.
What is bizarre is that they should understand that 90% of non-Thai visitors they are getting these days are there because of Mark Wiens review. But they still don't care to translate their menu to English while no one serving the customers speaks descent English.
Place is super dirty (even by Thai street food standards) with cats walking on the tables. Service is pathetic. Two daughters of the owners who are supposed to perform waiter duties are just seating, eating and staring at their smartphones instead of serving the guests.

  3. The Northeast Region or Isan or Thai/Lao Isan region. Territory that was formerly part of Laos but has . Most people of aware their enthinically Lao and identify as either Lao Isan or Lao since under Thai government for 100 years. I'm Lao and I just think it's interesting they like the same sauce in papaya salad as Lao people still. Look up Lao Tham Mak Hoong (Papaya Salad) and see Padek.

  4. Excellent story, and from the heart.
