  1. Hi doctor my dog had surgery a little over 2 weeks ago to remove bladder stones. They did mention her ph was low and the stones that she had were called phosphate crystals. Is that the same thing as calcium oxalate? I try to look up remedies and home cooked meals so I can prevent them from coming back but no one ever mentions phosphate crystals. I’m just trying my best to help her so she doesn’t have to go through surgery again and because I can’t afford it. Thank you for all that you do

  2. So struvite stones occur when the pH is lower?? I think that is what I heard in the beginning, but then you said it will be too high….just trying to get the correct info, thank you

  3. My dog is having bladder stones for 10 months now
The vet didn't tell me what kind of stones he is having he gave him antibiotics and urinary dry food
But he is still having stones the dry food didn't help his case 🙄 so I'm cooking for him cauliflower broccoli rice egg chicken tuna potato cucumber melon banana apple watermelon
I don't know if what im doing is enough cuz sadly i don't trust his vet anymore I don't know what type of stones he is having cuz after of 6 months from having stones for the first time and getting antibiotics with urinary dry food he had stones again with urinary infection so he pee blood so he took more antibiotics and urinary dry food again that's why i started cooking for him and adding olive oil with apple cider vinegar into his water bowl
Do u think i should do something else ?

  4. My dog was diagnosed with having crystals in urine and he eats prescription food (ur pro plan, purina) is there a way to change his diet? Or does he have to keep eating the same prescription food. Any advice would be appreciated

  5. Hello Dr my dog was diagnosed with a large stone X-ray, blood and urine tests were done but the vet does not know what type of stone she has. He did mention she has a uti infection. Asked for her to be on hills C/D and antibiotics how can I tell what stone she has does not have any issues urinating but drinking a lot of water so frequent accidents. Thank you in advance
I was also told she has a torn ACL

  6. My French mastiff Ernie has now had 3 separate operations over his 5 year life to remove stones from his bladder it’s got to the point that it wouldn’t be fair to keep cutting him open to remove the stones so I’m trying everything possible so this never happens again I will be adding this to his diet of urinary dog food many thanks for sharing

  7. Thank you Dr. , my chihuahua mix just had surgery to remove oxalates stones and the food Royal Canin Urinary SO lowered his PH, the ver want to prescribe another Rx food but I do not want to keep experimenting and I am going to try home made food, at least I know what is in it. Any recommendations for Oxalates stones ?

  8. My dog has a “+1 calcium oxylate” score in recent labs. Vet wants to put on royal canine so hydrolyzed protein but my dog is allergic to several ingredients in there…do u recommend a diet or food? He doesn’t actually have stones but she is trying to prevent them from happening. I just don’t want to put him on something he is allergic to though…

  9. I can’t wait to try the struvite remedy honey/ACV/green tea recipe for my 13 lb shihtzu/maltese 6 year old girl. I don’t know if I missed it, but how long should I give this to her? You did mention twice a day though. Also for her weight, I was going to adjust your recipe down to just a little over a half. Thank you for any input. (BTW my dog doesn’t have any problem urinating, she just licks her private parts not only after urinating but quite a few times during the day, which is what prompted me to take her to vet thinking it was vaginitis.). Also, if there’s anyone out there that has used the recipe and it worked, how often and how long did you use it? Thanks so much!!

  10. My dog recently just got bladder stones removed that were grain sized. His bladder was full with sand like stones. So, my vet removed them and gave him Royal Canine Urinary SO. I asked if a homemade diet would be more beneficial but he demanded No! I just wanted more opinions because I see a lot of people giving homemade diets and I rather do that then bagged. Also, they said he can’t have treats of any sort which I would make homemade if necessary.

  11. I sent people your videos and channel and they sent them to other people I think your a god send and you and your family are in all our prayers thank you so much you are truly one of the most best docs for animals ever !

  12. Are there any studies showing baking soda worked? Our dog had 4 stones and it’s a lifetime of care (or so we’ve heard). We are investigating everything. Thank u in advance.

  13. I had a little min pin, when he peed I noticed blood in his pee. Long story short. He had a bladder stone, as big as a marble. Vet wanted to operate $2,000. I said no, did research, came up with potassium citrate with cranberry granules for dogs. Mixed it in his wet food for a year. He never stopped peeing, so no blockage. Went to vet, ultra sound no stone. No more dried milk bones, or dry dog food. No more stones. He ate what we ate from then on.

  14. Dr. Jones, you have no idea how grateful I am. Unfortunately, Veterinarians are not very empathetic and it's all about money. I just per chance came across your site. I wish to extend to you my gratitude for all the information on the "Struvite" in dogs and cats. In my case it's my little dog Bella a Chihuahua mix. Thank you once again!!

  15. My doggie Gizmo 8 year old cha/fox terroir, took him to the vet. Test of the stone type will come in Monday. What should his long term food be? should i give him distilled/bottled water?

  16. Hello Doc, my corgi had cystine calculi stones and I don’t think that’s the same as the 3 types you mentioned. We had a very expensive surgery to get them removed and I’m looking for ways to prevent them from reoccurring. Would you suggest the same remedy? He is 1 year old. Thanks.

  17. well my dog has bladder stone and he got it from the antibiotics that the old vet gave us so that his skin will heal but instead of healing he got bladder stone and just this past two days he wasn't peeing and not eating and when we went to a new vet they told us that now its too late that the only way to help him not suffer is surgery but there's only 30% chance of living or to put him down. I cried so much knowing that my dog is suffering and because of covid we dont have much money so cant have him surgery(Ihave savings but it isn't much). We bought new antibiotics which the new vet recommend it to us. well the new vet said that the antibiotics that the old vet gave us made him have bladder stone (and he said was there xray?bloodtest? and my mom said no because what the old vet did is just wrote all his medications and money)… But last week he was just fine and he was running around playing with my other dog and now… he's dying. I'm sad because there's nothing we can do but just give him antibiotics…

  18. Can you also give that liquid mixture to my dog or cat even if they have not been diagnosed with kidney stones or infections.. Dispensing it to avoid occurrence or for prevention..?
