  10. I was very concerned about this as I feed both meow mix and milk bone. I call meow mix today and they told me that in 2018 they were made aware of this and did a recall. They now test themselves for this drug to make sure its not in their animal feed. Just FYI

  14. I saw my grandparents cook for their dogs and cats: their dogs and cats lived long healthy lives. My parents did the same and now I do the same for mine and the are healthy and thriving. Feeding your dogs and cats real food is NOT rocket science…it's common sense! I don't eat dead processed imitation substitution for real food so why would I feed such to my precious charges. Common sense people.

  18. My husband used to work for the city of Los Angeles Department of sanitation. There were trucks that would be sent out to pick up a variety of dead animals, some sick some killed . Every week a pet food company would buy them 😬

  20. the ""top"" company's that make dog food arent dog food makers. mars- a candy company. smuckers a jelly co. they are in it for the money. do it the cheapest way possible – they dont care about your pets. another just got bought out by a food company. they are in it for profit only.

  25. Please check out Dr Lisa Pierson on Google. She has done major work to find the best and safest cat foods. She has worked tirelessly contacting every brand to get the ingredients. I believe she has done some work on Doggy foods as well. After reading her work I immediately stopped feeding kibble and moved to a higher protien/fat/water canned food. 💛🐱🐶

  26. My Am-Staff has food allergies and sensitive stomach. Tried many dog foods amd none helped- wither his allergies got worse, vomited or did not feel well. I begin to prepare his food..has been a game changer.

  28. Thank you for this warning Dr. Jones. I'll pass this on. I used nothing but lamb & brown rice kibble for my Akitas as they had sensitive GI systems & now One turkey or chicken & rice for the cats.

  29. My dog was prescribed a pain medication that wasn’t FDA approved for dog pain. I’m not sure it was FDA approved for anything to treat dogs because I could not find anything but information of it’s use except pain (in dogs). Not only was it prescribed it has never been studied, back when pharm could be sued it was sued twice over this drug. After the first lawsuit it renamed the drug and used it to treat a different disorder (hence the second lawsuit). So, I guess they think they can give anything to our pets. I will be informing my vet that I won’t allow my dogs to be given any medication until I complete my own research. Why are so many dogs getting cancer? Is it just better testing and better pet care that we now know of cancer or is it the things we are giving them? Tell us about turkey tail mushrooms please.

  40. I quit feeding our dogs a few kinds of dog food like Kibbles & bits, Walmart brand dogfood and a couple others. I know that those were the two that killed our 3 dogs a few years ago. There was a list of people on their website that were all complaining about those same foods. I now tell people when I see them in the store don't ever buy those brands. They always thank me. I'm just happy to help. ❤

  41. **Edit: I commented right as i started watching this and hadn't got to the part where you talked about rendering plants and things to look out for so apologies.**
    It comes from 'Rendering animal shelters' that sell the animals they euthanized such as dogs and cats to be used in their kibbles etc. Always read the ingrediants label and stay away from 'meat' (if theywon't name the creature that the meat came from, assume the worst) and 'by-products'. Wish what I'm saying wasn't true but alas it is. I've been rescuing for over 2 decades and i research the crap out of any rumor that can affect my pups. Who would feed their dog 'Gravy Train'? Yuck!!!! For the same price you can buy a 30 lbs bag of pretty darned decent dog food at Costco (I buy the "Nature's Domaine' salmon formula which is almost if not exactly identical to 'Feast from the wild' salmon formula). I also give my pups kefir after every meal to help with the digestion. My last pups all lived past 15 which is unheard of in big dogs such as Cane Corso and Dobermans (anything past 10 years is considered 'gravy') but i firmly believe it's because i do NOT vaccinate other than the initial (i follow DVM Jean Dodds of Hemopet vaccine protocol) who is right now conducting trials on the rabies vaccine and changing the laws regarding their frequency and extending it to at least 5 years but i believe she is aiming for 7 years and hopefully she is successful even though personally i will continue to only do the initials and then titer tests as situations demand such as traveling (animals need a 'Health Certificate' if transported over state lines not that it's actively pursued by the authorities or anything) and I've been caught once in 20+ years and got a "Fix it" ticket. Well worth having my pups live such long and active lives.

  47. i cook for my Wolfie every night. cooked chicken or sirloin steak, fish, prime rib, rice, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, Goat milk, yogurt, he gets fresh veggies and hard boiled eggs in the shell for snacks, raw hides to chew and a cow leg bone. he's never had processed crap. i don't trust anyone else to feed my babies anymore.
