  4. I hope you saw my comments about the FDA approved ultrasound (not sonic!) toothbrushes for dogs that have been on the market since around 2017. I was among the first to own one in the US after it was originally launched on Indiegog. It was developed by a European dentist who loves dogs. I’ve had very positive experience with the TechMira MiraPet brush, which gently removed the mild plaque my boy had when he came home from the service dog school. It took several months to get two very stubborn spots, but I saw improvement fairly quickly overall. and I haven’t seen a spec of plaque come back since using it.

I can’t say how well EmmiPet brush works because I’ve never tried it, but that’s the other option. Between both, I really like the features and design that MiraPet offers like the option to turn the vibration part on and off.

Might be nice for you to do an experiment: test both brushes over a year’s time and report back with a video update every several months (since it might take up to several months to notice a difference) to share your experiences. Maybe you can do a side by side test — use MiraPet on one side of Tula’s mouth and the EmmiPet brush on the other side! If you like either or both of them, they could potentially save people hundreds to thousands of dollars in central cleanings at the vet if their pet only has mild or moderate plaque and gum issues.

My boy has never needed a professional cleaning and has sparkly pearly whites thanks to his MiraPet brush. I also use other things like chewing on antlers (which are not a choking hazard), dental sprays, and lick mats to clean the tongue with toothpaste. My vet was shocked to see how well the brush that I use works and started using it with his own dogs and recommends it to patients regularly. I’m sure results vary, but I think it’s worth a try. They’re about $249, and you can often find them on sale or get coupon codes to buy them for quite a bit less. That’s significantly less money than a single cleaning. No anesthesia. Only takes a few moments. Lots of pluses!
