Hi doctor, I've been taking your advice of giving curcumin as well as the topical pain relief it has been 4 days now and so far it hasn't gotten worse. I was just wondering, is it safe to continue walks and physical activity for the dog as usual? Or should he be resting this entire time until it has complefely resolved? I cannot find anything online and I have been keeping him inside most of the time and I feel really bad doing so but I dont want to do anything to make it worse.
I used the tea tree oil topically and the licorice root tincture internally. Our dog's hematoma has diminished significantly in just a couple of weeks. Thank you!
I’ve got a Senior Westy terrier that has one on his left ear and I cannot afford surgery !!! He’s so uncomfortable and this mass is getting big ! I’m considering draining it myself and using some of your recommendations – I’ve gotta try something and feel so bad for him 😞
Last year my dog had Aural Hematoma, I used Iodine Povidone. The blood just all went out on their own, and then continued making sure it's always clean so I won't have trouble with infection. Healed quickly. But the other day, my dog got another aural hematoma and I used the same method, it didn't work the same way. I'll try to do it again, see if it would work this time, and will add these topical suggestions you said. Thanks for the video, I am startign to get worried. Google always says, GO TO VET but I try my best not to put my dogs under surgery…as much as possible. Glad I've seen this update.
Sorry if this is a stupid question…but how do you administer the licorice tincture? Orally straight, or mixed in water?) or topically)?..I know licorice also has medicinal topical applications 🤷♀️..thx
The vet did surgery on a small hematoma right off the bat. Try leaving it, draining, a steroid, leaching, etc FIRST!! The surgery and the healing process is sooo invasive!! I’ll never go back to that vet for opinions moving forward.
Dr Jones I need to say thank you to you as my cat suffered aural hematoma in dec, 3 times of draining still could not stop the blood blister coming back….. hopeless then end up trying your natural way to see if the blood blister can be gone. I tried the Arnica Cream + Yarrow extract + Hamamelis Virginiana + Hepar Sulphuris and the result is unbelievable. the blister disappeared in around 10 days and the ear just slightly reduced by 5-10% + no floppy ear. Thanks god!
Thanks, Doctor. It is exactly what is happened to my dog. Because I live in Nicaragua there is no this kind of medicine, I have to wait about 4 to 5 weeks to see if the swelling on his ear disappeared. Regards.
thank you so much for this wonderful video. My big baby who is 7 years old have that ear hematoma and vet suggested surgical procedure under general anesthesia which came with a precaution that she might not wake up due to complications that came with her age so I opted not to have that surgery. Will try your prednisone and topical applications.
This is the only video I could find, featuring an actual vet, that provides treatments that are alternatives to surgery. Dr. Jones is a credit to his profession and I, for one, am very thankful for the information he provides.
Dr Jones you have helped us silently in our dogs wellness for years. Today I came to your channel for the sudden aural hematoma that happened in my dog’s ear. I love all the non invasive options you have provided. My question , how do I know if this was due to allergy vs infection? There is no known trauma or infection! She was not crazily scratching her ear either! Last night was perfect and woke up this morning with that scary looking ballon on the ear! Please guide. Thanks
Thank you for providing this easy to understand explanation about ear hematomas. My dog has recently developed this issue. I am going to try one of this remedies to give my dog some relief.

Can you use a combination of these ingredients, for example, licorice and traumeel?

What if a dog stars scratching it thus causing the hematoma to drip?
I love how Pippy's tail is going crazy the entire time you're talking, while she lays on the table.

My dog had this and when I brought him to the vet he did sugury on it. I'd share this with the vet but shouldn't he know these remedies?

Go get a 18g needle from tractor supply clean and iodine the dogs ear and drain the fluid. Then let it heal. It’s not rocket science.
But what should I do? Apply hear or cold? Do he need aspirin or any cream I could put on it?

Which cream or gel is the best Traumeel or Arnica?
Arnica gel, a kid I remember my mom saying that Arnica would work wonders on wounds, infections and small cuts.
