Good tips. What is your (or anyone viewers) advise on this situation. I just returned from a 10 day trip. Despite asking caretakers to check for ticks, I immediately found 1 small, not engorged tick attached to my dog. I removed it immediately.
My vets process is to wait 6 weeks and test blood. I have the tick. Should I get it tested? Most tests only check for Lyme. Should I insist on anti-biotics now just to be safe? His go to is a 28 day cycle of doxycycline. He insists that 14 days is not long enough and can fail as a treatment. We did this once with him (28 days) when a blood test found a tick borne disease (not lyme) and it seemed to work. My dog is not and will never be on pesticide flea and tick "meds" (poison's.)
Can I give my dog a natural anxiety (using CBD or CBD/THC with 8:1 ratio. I’m thinking a very minuscule amount on a treat that way I can get the ticks all at once instead of picking at him. This is a first time thing for me and I’ve had dogs my whole life .. it grosses me out and I hate they could be hurting Jax, my 9 month old Yorkie
Thanks so much. I’d never seen a tick (after 30 years with 4 dogs (2 at a time) until my puppy came in with something weird… an engorged tick. This was the only video that showed what the bite looked like after removal .. I know now the wound is normal. I read spraying vinegar and water and combing through hair helps prevent. My pup was treated for flea and ticks as was my other dog. Jax has longer hair (Party Yorkie) while LuLu is short hair Chorkie. I believe he picked them up from his explorations around our pond .. because of the longer grass and foliage.
Hi , i noticed when i was fleaing my dog today 21st nov in the middle of shoulder blades, i noticed a tick its almost black looking alwat its a spot on treatment you put there itkills fleaa ticks lice and eggs we think its a tick but i cant see legs but it alos looks likea new mole with some friends round the bottom i tried afew times ti get it out with tweezers but wasnt happening and there was a bit of blood. Heres me flicking thru 100 yt vids on how to extract ticks/fleas cos my dad says he found bugs on my dogs belly… Just to find out it was just moles… Smh i almost yeeted them off
I had babesiosis and spent 9 days in the hospital, mostly in the ICU. I had acute kidney failure and almost died. After I got out it took a month to recover enough to get back to work. A man in the county next to mine died from it just a week after I got out of the hospital and left behind a wife and three kids.
Drooping them in a hit of Dawn dish soap witb water drowns them. I'm fighting an outbreak of Brown dog ticks and drop them all in this solution to kill them. Less mess and easier.
dont trust the chewable tick preventatives they cause a host of side effects including neurological it caused total paralysis in the hind qtrof my healthy german shepherd since then I have spoke to many that had seizures occur but it seams that they are not reported back so drug companies do not have good return data
what if my dog had a tick for only 3 or 4 days I took it out and gave it a chew for ticks. hadn't given it before because it's still cold in Minnesota and didn't think it needed it yet should that be enough. thanks for your time
Thanks for your information. I have a 12 year old Pomeranian male dog. During July this summer I discovered a tick and I removed it with a tweezer there was small black residue left on his hind leg but I couldn’t take it out it looked like black ashes on his leg. I’m always worried he might still have something left as your video showed other small ticks alongside the larger tick. I hope my dog doesn’t have smaller ones eating at him. I’ll keep checking but it’s difficult to check as he doesn’t allow me. I thought your video was very informative and I will definitely keep checking and taking your advice on ticks. Thanks so much and I’ve just subscribed to your channel.
Many of the tick peventives have chemicals in them and which can be carciogenic i.e. causing cancer. Skin is big on absorbing anything thrown on it like liquid so be careful of the chemical stuff. Have done coconut oil lased palm massage on the dog and it works in preventing to a decent extent. Was told of Lemons in water solution wash (left overnight to mix up) to kill but next day saw new ticks as dogs are outdoor garden dwellers. I also take an ear cleaner or cotton in a half to quarter cup solution of water with several drops of Dettol and wipe the inside of ears, between the nails, bottom of the paws and insides and areas like arm pits, and then palm massage the solution behind and above ears and neck area, full spine lenght area. This works quite decently and dettol smell remains for upto 2-3 days. Then you have to repeat. Good part is Dettol also kills the eggs and gives a general cleanse to the area. Have heard feeding half a clove of garlic to dogs, emits the smell which repells the ticks. Have not tried it yet but is on the agenda. Dogs that are on non-veg diets on regular basis like commercial dog foods tend to attract more ticks as blood becomes more tasty for the ticks.
I pulled a tick the other day and I am not sure the head was attached as it was so small to see and had some pitch and some pine needle stuff too. Will the head if left be a problem he was on Braveco and about 2 weeks late getting it. Will the head be a threat he is vacinated for everything I think
Recent, very happy subscriber! U rock, doc 🙂 I really want to make a natural tick spray for my pug. Advice on the spray please? I mean which oils, you mention cederwood…how do I make that? Ratio? Any other oil to be mixed in?
Please get a new phone cover ☺….My Maltese has been getting ticks on her leg and found one in her arm pit, these ticks are huge and been leaving swollen tisue, I'm going to try the cedar oil and see if it helps before taking her for a $70 exam by my vet.
please help , Our dog had a tick which we thought we had removed, the skin has grown over and has flared up. I've only ever seen one other person online that has had the same problem with dead ticks and the skin growing over the old wound, Vets we've talked to say that this isn't possible and they didn't want to lance the boil. can anyone help us help our dog. thanks
Also Mineral oil, Vaseline or a tiny dab of liquid laundry detergent on a Q-tip on the tick makes the tick unlatch almost instantly. Where Dr. Jones do you get a cedar based spray from can you make it yourself?
Thanks for teaching so much. We healed our dogs swollen paws with baking soda water and sea salt water as well as the tea. Most importantly was doubling up probiotics. We use the organic medal, shampoo and oils. Also good food helps.
Thank you so much for your videos . My dog had many skin infections and all the vets wanted to do was prescribe her drugs. I stumbled upon your videos and lord was I blessed. I tried your shampoos and remedies and she hasn’t had a problem since. Thank you so much for your natural, affordable, caring ways.
Here in Tn. Our dogs and cats occasionsonaly also get seed ticks. Anyone unfamiliar to these should put an engorged tick in a jar and wait a few weeks, baby ticks come out by the hundreds. Our problem the last few years is some of the tick drops like frontline seem to stop working! 9 dogs 6 cats we desperately need products that work and wont send us in to bankruptcy.
Thanks for helping Cinnamon, a beautiful gentle soul. Love all your informative information. Hard to see ticks on black dogs but felt one and pulled it out of my dog once. Treat her each year. Thank you.
Animax ointment for the wound post bite. It will reduce or eliminate the bump.
So my dogs have ticks biting them what's a good home remedy for remove ticks? Without touching them.

Thank you Doctor Jones and the lovely Cinnamon 🤗💛🐾
did you also remove the broken off mouth part that is typically left under the skin and can cause infection?
I miss havin' Dr. Andrew as my vet. He's so fantastic.
Scorpion!?!?! At least there's only ticks here in delightful England.

Did you say cedar wood oil? I listened repeatedly but am not sure. Also does that oil help with fleas too?

It must be heartbreaking to leave the dog behind with fleas and parasites.
