  1. I used to make this dish but we shucked the clams raw, mixed the peppers and seasoning into a butter paste next and then put the bread crumbs on top w a piece of bacon and then cooked under a broiler which gave it a nice crust on top with the fresh clam underneath. One of our most popular dishes. I always order this if I can find a restaurant that makes it.
