  1. I know of a family that had their two healthy small dogs euthanized because it was inconvenient for them to take care of them. When I found out, I asked them why they couldn’t have found homes for them. Their response was that; no one would take care of them the way they would. This happened over forty years ago, and I haven’t gotten over it yet. I found this video because I did a search for people that euthanize healthy pets.

  2. As an animal advocate and rescuer I find this cruel and disturbing. If I knew the name of the vet I would push for them to lose their license. No compassionate vet would ever do such a thing. The owner is selfish to ever make such a request.

  3. I have deceased pets that have been cremated throughout my life that I’ve asked to have buried with me or if I’m cremated have our ashes mixed before throwing them to the wind. But not a healthy alive one. Those I would set up with new families prior if I knew I was dyeing or in the event if my death I’d ask friends or family to take them.
This woman must have felt the dog would be lost without her. 😞☹️

  4. If I die and no one will take care of my dog, I'd rather him be put down than suffer alone. However, my dog is a good boy and he has a list of people who have specifically asked to have him if something happened to me.

  5. Not crazy at all. My mom worked in the nursing field for years and one of the people she cared for had her two cats put to sleep when she died because she didn't want them to end up some where bad. I found a dog that was hit on the side of the road..I also found out later it was an adopted 11 yr old little dog..who was adopted just 13 days ago when I found it..it was hit on the side of the road after it's owner went into a nursing home. The animal shelter just said "Omg,what happened?!" I never got a call on when and where to bring it. I'm glad this woman took charge of her dog's safety.

  6. totally agree… id like my dog to be burried with me too but only after she dies from natural death.also love your teachings for us low income people to learn knowledge with home remonies

  7. When I worked at a vets office for a year 2 people came in to have perfectly healthy pets to be euthanized. We were able to talk one person out of it. The other was put down by a vet tech under the assumptiom something was wrong with it and what was doing what the animal was down for. Vet was pissed.
The owner of that particular cat refused to explain why she wanted her put down and requested we give her the body. My boss refeused to give her the body and was grieving all week.

The other per my boss convinced the owner to sign over and lives at the office now. Alive and happy.

  8. I can totally understand her reasoning. I have 3 dogs. I am all they have and they are all I have. When I went to hospital 2 years ago, they got so depressed, they stopped eating. I don't want them to miss me. How good a new owner may be, it's not ME. And they will never treat them and allow them what I do. So, after my death, they are to be put down and cremated. It's in my will.

  9. Dr. Jones – You, and some of your followers are right, that you don't know the exact details of the owners decision. Well, you are wrong. I have rescued 3 dogs from the Humane Society that were not being adopted -one of them was at the Humane Society 4 years and was in perfect health – but she barked and was black, and I was told black dogs and cats get adopted last, if ever. Now on my current adoption, an abused Chihuahua that was dropped off at the Humane Society with 25 other Chihuahuas as part of a breeder family that was sentenced to prison – the dog had been repeatedly bitten and picked on by the other dogs, and only knew kennel life. Then, he lived at the Humane Society 8 months (yet another kennel) with fear and trust issues – he was adopted out twice but returned because people wanted an instant perfect dog. We adopted him, and now almost a year later he is a lot better, gets to live a normal life, gets 4 walks a day and loves his two dads. But he still has trust issues and separation anxiety, as did my other adopted dogs. You bet that we would have him ‘go with us to the other side’ (euthanized) if we pass away before him. Do you think we are going to let this frightened, insecure dog stay behind and cry each night that his dads are gone, only to be thrown back into a cold lonely kennel on ‘hopes’ that he’ll be adopted? No. I’m frustrated with you Dr. Jones, and you really need to think about your comments and how they affect readers that may have to deal with these issues.
    -Thank you

  10. I have a very good friend who lost her mom 3 years ago and has been very depressed and suffering with anxiety. She is talking like that. It is making me crazy. She has 3 Chihuahuas. Two are 9 and one is 5. They are perfectly healthy. It is making me crazy. They are so full of life Dr. Jones. I totally agree with you and others about little Emma. So very sad. 💔

  11. The office manager at a veterinarian clinic told me that if I didn't pay my bill in full that my healthy beagle would be euthanized. I was told by someone else that worked there that I could make payments and to go ahead and bring my dog in. There are so many homeless pets, I see nothing wrong with not wanting to leave your pet behind. A pet's life is short and we're all born to die. Maybe they have souls that live on also!!

  12. Very sad and probably was a misinformed owner. I can only assume she loved her pup so much and would agonize over the possibility of her beloved pet ending up living out its life in a shelter.

  13. I would never ever do that 🤦🏻‍♀️the people who euthanize her should be ashamed of themselves 🖕🏻…….. 🤦🏻‍♀️that’s bullshit that PET didn’t deserve to be put to death🤦🏻‍♀️ WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE 🤦🏻‍♀️

  14. Not knowing all the details it could be that she did not word it properly in her will, giving the executor the option to go ahead and destroy the animal versus someone caring for the animal until it passed and then burying it with her.

  15. So sad. If she had time to put euthanizing her dog in her will, she had time to find her dog a loving home. I can only assume she thought she was doing the right thing, but this is so very sad.
